Miracles
Bible Reading: Mark 7:31-37
Tuesday, December 6, 2016

Our Bible verses today tell us that Jesus healed a deaf man. This was a miracle — something that could only be done through God's power. Whenever Jesus did a miracle, He was showing people about God's awesome power. Many of Jesus' miracles were predicted in the Old Testament. When Jesus did these miracles, He proved that His words were true.
Sometimes my family goes to a market. On tables at the market are cups of food samples. We like to taste these samples. Then we have an idea of how the food tastes. In the same way, reading about Jesus' miracles gives us a sample of God’s kingdom. When we learn about God's power and majesty, we look forward to living with Him forever.
I hope that reading about Jesus' miracles and God's power makes you want to live forever with Him. We will have an eternity to see God's great power and experience His everlasting love. —SH*

“But these are written so that you can believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you can have life through his name.” John 20:31
PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word which shows me Your power. And thank You for leading me today. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Jesus' Life (9)
Bible Reading: Luke 24:36-49
Friday, October 21, 2016

After Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to two men as they were walking on a road. Later these two men told more of Jesus' followers that He was alive.
These followers were together and “Jesus himself came and stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you’” (verse 36b). Jesus' followers were afraid and thought He was a ghost. Jesus told the followers to not be afraid and to touch Him. “You can see that I have a living body; a ghost does not have a body like this” (verse 39b). Then Jesus' followers believed that He had risen from the dead.
In John 20:29, Jesus told His followers, “You believe because you see me. Great blessings belong to the people who believe without seeing me!” Jesus was talking about you and me. We cannot see Him today, but we can read about Him in the Bible. And we can know for sure that Jesus rose from the dead.
Because Jesus rose from the dead, we have the hope of living forever with Him! —BC*

“The followers were amazed and very, very happy to see that Jesus was alive.” Luke 24:41a
PRAYER: Father, I believe that Jesus died and rose again. Thank You for the promise of eternal life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jesus (4)
Bible Reading: 1 John 4:14-16
Thursday, August 25, 2016

Many people ask, “Does it really matter that Jesus is God's Son?” Some people think Jesus was Joseph's son or another man's son. But our Bible verses today tell us that knowing Jesus is Gods Son is very important.
Who cares if Jesus is God's Son? I do! If Jesus is not God’s Son, then the Bible is not true (Luke 1:35). If Jesus is not God's Son, then Jesus is a liar (Luke 22:70), and God is a liar, too (Mark 1:1). If Jesus is not God's Son, then the evil spirits would not have obeyed Him (Mark 3:11,12). If Jesus is not God's Son, then I cannot have life forever (John 3:16). THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE!
I thank God that Jesus is His Son. Jesus is also my Savior. He is preparing a place in heaven for me. Someday Jesus will come back to take me to live with Him forever. If Jesus were just the son of some man, He couldn’t do those things. I hope you believe that Jesus is truly the Son of God! —DK

“They all said, ‘Then are you the Son of God?’ Jesus said to them, ‘You are right in saying that I am.’” Luke 22:70
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus, Your Son. I believe He is Your Son. I will trust Him to save me and give me eternal life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

—MK

Jesus (1)
Bible Reading: Mark 6:1-3
Monday, August 22, 2016

In today's Bible Reading, Jesus went to Nazareth. Nazareth is the town where Jesus grew up. The people there were amazed when Jesus tried to teach them. The people in Nazareth had known Jesus when He was a child. They thought He was just a simple carpenter. They did not understand how Jesus could be important.
Those people could not see the truth about Jesus. They did not want to understand. Jesus showed them proof that He was God's Son. But they did not believe.
Sometimes we are like those people. We think it is very easy to understand Jesus. We think we already know Him. But we must think about Jesus and really study the Bible. Then we will understand more about Him.
For the next few days we will learn more about Jesus. Then you can begin to know more about Him. Jesus will change your life forever! —MK

Share the Good News
Bible Reading: Acts 1:6-11
Sunday, July 3, 2016

Our Bible verses today tell us that Jesus met with His apostles one last time before He ascended into heaven. Jesus gave these men a plan for sharing the Good News of salvation with the whole world. Jesus said, “You will tell people everywhere about me — in Jerusalem, in the rest of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world” (verse 8b).
You can use this same plan to help you share about Jesus with other people. Jerusalem was the city where the apostles lived. That is like the neighborhood where you live. Judea was the area around Jerusalem. That is similar to the state where you live. Samaria was close to Judea. The people there were from a different culture. That is like people you meet who are from a different background or culture. And every part of the world means people in foreign countries or on a mission field.
There are so many people — near and far — who need to know about Jesus. Share the Good News with someone today! —CS

Mary Magdalene
Bible Reading: Mark 16:1-13
Monday, February 1, 2016

In Luke 8:1-
3 we learn
that Mary
Magdalene
became a
follower of
Jesus and
traveled with
Him. These verses also tell us that Jesus had removed seven demons from Mary Magdalene. Jesus healed Mary and changed her life! Later Jesus was arrested and crucified. Mark 15:40 tells us that Mary was one of the women who stood near the cross and watched Jesus die.
Our Bible verses for today tell us that Mary Magdalene was one of the women who went to the tomb to put spices on Jesus' body. The women discovered that the tomb was empty. Then Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene. She was the first person Jesus met after His resurrection.
Mary Magdalene witnessed
Jesus' great power and love when He healed her. Her faith led her to travel with Jesus and continue to learn from Him. We should try to be like Mary Magdalene. Give God your service and your love today! —BH

“There were also some women with him. Jesus had healed these women of sicknesses and evil spirits. One of them was Mary, who was called Magdalene. Seven demons had come out of her.” Luke 8:2

Birth Story (10)
Bible Reading: 1 John 4:7-20
Monday, December 21, 2015

When Jesus was born, He was very much like human babies. But He was also different from other babies. How was Jesus different? Jesus was the only one who can save us from our sins.
A savior is a person who rescues another person from danger. Verse 14 of our Bible Reading says, “We have seen that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world, and that is what we tell people now.” Jesus was born to be our Savior. He was born to rescue us from the danger of sin.
Our sins separate us from God. God wants us to be close to Him — not separated from Him. So God sent Jesus, His Son, to save us from sin. Jesus was born as a human baby and lived a perfect, sinless life. Then He died on the cross and accepted the punishment for our sins. Because of that, we can live with God forever.
Jesus loves you and wants to be your Savior. Follow and obey Him today! —GT

Anyone who says, ‘I believe that Jesus is the Son of God,’ is a person who lives in God and God lives in that person.”

—JK

Jesus (8)
Bible Reading: Luke 24:1-12
Friday, November 20, 2015

You may know the expression, “It’s just too good to be true!” People often say that when something wonderful has happened, but they just can’t believe that it really happened.

When Jesus’ followers heard that He was risen from the dead, I think they might have said, “It’s just too good to be true!” Jesus had been telling His disciples for a long time that He would die and rise again, but when the women told them about the resurrection, they didn’t believe it. They thought that the news was “nonsense” (verse 11). But soon, the disciples saw Jesus and believed. That must have been a wonderful day of celebration!

It has been almost 2,000 years since Jesus lived on earth. We cannot see Jesus today. We cannot touch the nail prints in His hands. But we do have the Bible and the eyewitness testimony of people who were with Him. We can know that the Bible is true and that Jesus really rose from the dead. Take time to celebrate this wonderful miracle today! —JK

Jesus (2)
Bible Reading: Matthew 21:1-9
Saturday, November 14, 2015
Have you ever watched a royal ceremony from England on TV? The queen always wears a crown on these special occasions. A crown is a sign of authority and power. A crown like this is usually made of gold and decorated with jewels.

In our Bible verses today, Jesus entered Jerusalem. The people were excited to see Him. They worshiped and praised Him. But these people did not really understand why Jesus came to earth. They expected Him to overthrow the Romans and establish an earthly kingdom where He would sit on a throne and wear a crown. But that was not God’s plan for His Son.

Jesus is truly a king. The book of Revelation describes how Jesus is the King of a heavenly kingdom. If we obey Jesus and allow Him to rule our lives, we will share in His kingdom.

Is Jesus the King of your life? Take time today to think about what it will be like to live with Him forever. —JK

—CPE*

The Bible Proves It!
Bible Reading: Matthew 14:22-33
Saturday, October 10, 2015

The Bible Proves It! What can you say to someone who thinks God is not real? You could tell them that the Bible shows us that God’s Son, Jesus, is real. All of the books in the New Testament, except 3 John, have the words “Jesus Christ” written in them. This means that 26 of the 27 New Testament books mention Jesus. God inspired different men to write these books, but they all talk about the same man — Jesus.
Do you believe that Abraham Lincoln really lived? Have you ever met him? Have you seen him? No. But you know that he was a real person. How? Because many people have written books about Abraham Lincoln. You know that he was real because you have read these books.
What about Jesus? Just like Abraham Lincoln, we can believe Jesus is real because people who knew Jesus when He lived on earth have written about Him and their experiences with Him. Our Bible verses today tell us about Jesus’ disciples. They truly believed that Jesus was real! —CPE*
“Then the followers in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, ‘You really are the Son of God.’” Matthew 14:33

Esther (3) After summer break, I did not want to return to my job. I felt that my boss did not appreciate me. There was a lot of tension between me and the non-Christian workers. I was frustrated and upset.
Then I remembered one verse from our Bible Reading today. Mordecai told Esther, “And who knows, maybe you have been chosen to be the queen for such a time as this” (verse 14b). Maybe God had put me in this job so that I could be a witness to other people.
Maybe you are not happy. You might be thinking about leaving your job or your relationship with another person. Stop and remember Esther. Maybe you should stay at your job or in your relationship so that God can use you to bring other people to Him.
Ask God to help and guide you today. And remember to always show His love and peace to others. —EP*

—JK

God's Plan (4) The last part of God's plan for His church was to go to “every part of the world” (verse 8b). The rest of the book of Acts tells us how the twelve apostles and Paul spread the Good News throughout the world.
Paul made three trips around the Roman Empire to tell Jews and non-Jews about Jesus. Paul was a missionary — someone who is sent to share God's message. Paul faced many hard times, but God was always with him.
We, too, have a responsibility to share Jesus with the whole world. But maybe you are thinking, “I can't travel around the world. How can I share Jesus?” One way is for you to support missionaries who are serving in other countries. You can pray for them and support them financially.
Also, you may be able to go on a short-term mission trip to another country or a mission in your own country. Let God help you be a part of His plan to save the whole world. —JK
“So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do.” Matthew 28:19-20a
PRAYER: Father, I want the whole world to know about You and Jesus. In His name. Amen.
