—CPE*

Jesus (8)
Bible Reading: Exodus 12:21-30
Monday, August 29, 2016

The Israelites were slaves in Egypt. God chose Moses to free the Israelites. Moses asked Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, to let the Israelites go free, but he refused. God made terrible things happen to the Egyptians, but Pharaoh still would not let them go.
After many terrible things happened, God told Moses He would kill the firstborn of each family in Egypt. In our Bible verses, we learn that the Israelites were to kill a lamb and put its blood on their door frame. Then God would pass over their house and not kill their firstborn. The Israelites were protected by the blood of the lamb.
The devil wants us to be punished for our sins. But God sent Jesus to be our “Lamb.” Jesus accepted the punishment for our sins when He died for us. When He was nailed to a cross, He bled for us. The blood of Jesus, our Lamb, saves us. As Christians, we are saved by Jesus’ blood. Don’t live without Jesus, the Lamb! —CPE*

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God. He takes away the sins of the world!’” John 1:29
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Jesus to be our Lamb and save us. In His name. Amen.

Birth Story (12)
Bible Reading: Romans 5:1-5
Wednesday, December 23, 2015

Often we talk about Jesus being a humble, helpless baby. But Jesus was also the Lord over all people.
A lord is a person who has authority, control and power over other people. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, He also becomes our Lord. We tell Jesus that we want Him to be in control of our lives and have authority over us.
Some people are not willing to let Jesus control their lives. These people think that Jesus will take away their freedom to do what they want. But that’s not true. When Jesus becomes our Lord, we become free. We are free to live without fear and worry. We are free to live a wonderful, exciting life that honors God!
Verse 1 of our Bible verses for today says, “We have been made right with God because of our faith. So we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Praise God for the peace that Jesus gives us! —GT

“God has spoken to the people of Israel. He sent them the Good News that peace has come through Jesus Christ, the Lord of all people.”
Acts 10:36
PRAYER: Father, I am so happy that I have peace through Jesus. In His name. Amen.

Pray and Believe
Bible Reading: Acts 12:5-19
Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Pray and Believe King Herod wanted to destroy the church. So Herod killed James and put Peter in prison. Our Bible verses tell us that “Peter was kept in jail, but the church was constantly praying to God for him” (verse 5).
God freed Peter from jail. Then Peter went to a house where people were praying for him. Peter knocked on a door, and a servant girl answered it. She was so excited that she didn't even open the door for Peter. She ran inside and told the other people that Peter was at the door. Do you know how these praying people responded? They said (verse 15), “You are crazy!”
These people were praying that God would free Peter from jail. And when God answered their prayer, they didn't believe it! Sometimes I am like that. I pray about a family problem. Then I am surprised when God answers my prayer and solves the problem.
Keep on praying every day! And believe that God will answer your prayers. Then thank Him and praise Him. —SH*
“Never stop praying. Be ready for anything by praying and being thankful.” Colossians 4:2
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank You for answering my prayers. In Jesus' name. Amen.

—DJH*

Onesimus
Bible Reading: Philemon 1-21
Friday, September 4, 2015

Onesimus The short New Testament book of Philemon tells us about Onesimus. He was a slave, and he was owned by a man named Philemon.
Onesimus ran away and went to Rome. In Rome, Onesimus met Paul, who was under arrest for preaching about Jesus. Paul told Onesimus about Jesus, and Onesimus became a Christian. Paul said about Onesimus, “He became my son while I was in prison” (verse 10b).
Onesimus was still a slave who belonged to Philemon. So Paul wrote a letter to Philemon. He asked Philemon to accept Onesimus as a brother, not a slave. “...not to be just a slave, but better than a slave, to be a dear brother” (verse 16a).
Even though Onesimus was still a slave, he was no longer a slave to sin. When he became a Christian, he became free in Jesus. I hope that you are like Onesimus. I hope that you are following and obeying Jesus today. —DJH*
“They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.” Romans 3:24
PRAYER: God, thank You for Your Son, Jesus, who makes me free. In His name. Amen.
