Water Miracles (6)
Bible Reading: John 2:1-11
Saturday, April 23, 2016

 While Jesus
was on earth,
He did many
miracles.
Jesus could
do these
miracles
because He is
God's Son. Jesus did many miracles to help people.
In our Bible Reading today, we read that Jesus, His mother and some of His followers were at a wedding. All the wine was gone, and the people did not know what to do. Jesus told the servants to
fill six large water pots with water. Then Jesus told them to take out some water and give it to the man in charge of the feast. The man tasted it. Jesus had changed the water into wine! Verse 11b tells us that by this miracle Jesus “showed his divine greatness, and his followers believed in him.” This miracle showed how powerful Jesus was. And this miracle helped Jesus' followers believe in Him. Every day Jesus' followers learned more about Him.
Jesus is not living on earth today and performing miracles. But we can read about His miracles in the Bible. When we read these things, we can understand how powerful Jesus is! —JK

“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16b
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Son, Jesus, who is powerful. In His name. Amen.

—CPE*

Holy
Bible Reading: Isaiah 6:1-7
Monday, January 25, 2016

In our Bible Reading for today, the prophet Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a very high and wonderful throne in the temple. The Lord was wearing a long robe that filled the temple. Isaiah also saw seraph angels around the Lord. The angels used their wings to cover their faces and bodies. I believe they did this because the Lord God is holy.
The same thing happened with Moses in Exodus 3. When God appeared to Moses in a burning bush, Moses covered his face (verse 6). Moses knew that God is holy.
After Isaiah saw the angels in the temple cover their faces and bodies, he heard them say to each other in Isaiah 6:3, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord All-Powerful. His Glory fills the whole earth.”

God is truly holy. He is perfect. God has never sinned. He can never sin. God loves everything that is pure and good and holy. Thanks to God and His forgiveness of our sins through His Son, Jesus, we can be holy, too. As His children, God wants us to live like Him. —CPE*

“Be holy in everything you do, just as God is holy. He is the one who chose you.” 1 Peter 1:15
PRAYER: God, You are holy, holy, holy. Thank You for forgiveness of my sins. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Love is Necessary
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Thursday, October 15, 2015

Love is Necessary In our Bible Reading today, Paul listed some amazing things: speaking many languages, understanding secret things, telling prophecies, having amazing faith that can do miracles, and even giving up one’s life. But Paul said that if a person does not have love, these things are worthless!
If we do wonderful things because we love God and other people, then these things are a beautiful way to show love. These things glorify God and help other people. But if we do good things because we want people to notice us and give us praise, then the things we do are worthless.
If we really love, we will not be interested in receiving a reward for what we do. We will do good things because we want to glorify God and help other people.
I hope you will love and do good things for God and others today.—MK
“Your love must be real. Hate what is evil. Do only what is good. Love each other in a way that makes you feel close like brothers and sisters. And give each other more honor than you give yourself.” Romans 12:9-10
PRAYER: Dear God, work through me to serve other people because I love them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Giving Thanks (5)
Bible Reading: Psalm 107:1-9
Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Giving Thanks (5) We have discussed four questions about giving thanks. Maybe now you are thinking, “Why should we give thanks?” That is a good question, and the answer is very clear in the Bible.
Psalm 107:2 tells people who are saved to praise and thank the Lord. So we should give thanks because God has commanded it. Many times the Bible reminds Christians to be thankful.
It is an honor to give thanks to God. God has blessed us so much. It is right for us to give thanks to Him. We should be happy to have the opportunity to thank God for all He has done.
In Romans, chapter 1, Paul talks about God being angry with people. What bad thing did these people do? Romans 1:21 says, “People knew God, but they did not honor him as God, and they did not thank him.” God wants us to thank Him.
I hope that you want to please God. You can please Him by telling Him that You are thankful for all His wonderful blessings. —NW
“...always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15b
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, it is an honor to be able to thank You for my blessings. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Do the Right Thing
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:31-33
Thursday, March 27, 2014

Do the Right Thing One day someone gave me a big bag of clothes. When I got home, I couldn’t wait to open the bag and look at the clothes.
As I looked through the clothes, I saw a really cute shirt. I planned to wear it the next day. After I put the shirt on the next morning, I noticed a small symbol on it. I knew this was something my parents would not let me wear.
But I really wanted to wear that shirt! I kept saying to myself, “Should I wear it? Maybe my parents won’t even notice!” Finally I decided to ask my dad. He said that I should not wear the shirt.
At first, I was upset. Then I realized that I had done the right thing. I knew that God would be pleased with me. Verse 31 of our Bible Reading today reminds us that we should do everything for God’s glory.
I hope you will choose to obey God and do right things today. —SE
“So if you eat, or if you drink, or if you do anything, do it for the glory of God. Never do anything that might make other people do wrong.”1 Corinthians 10:31-32a

Give Glory to God
Bible Reading: Psalm 79:1-13
Friday, September 27, 2013

Give Glory to God When most people sin, they feel guilty. Some people feel so guilty that they become depressed. These people do all kinds of things to try and make themselves feel better.
In our Bible Reading today, the writer feels guilty for the sins of the Israelites. Because Israel turned away from God, He allowed other nations to kill them and destroy their cities. The writer prays that God will forgive the Israelites.
It is important that we notice why the writer prayed for forgiveness. He wasn’t trying to make himself feel better. He wanted people to give glory to God! Verse 9 says, “Our God and Savior, help us! That will bring glory to your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the good of your name.”
The next time you ask God to forgive you, be sure to also thank Him for salvation through Jesus. Then give God glory by telling others about His love and forgiveness. —SH*
“Lord, I have done many wrong things. But I ask you to forgive them all to show your goodness.” Psalm 25:11
PRAYER: Father, I want to honor and glorify You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
