　我們今天讀的經文告訴我們耶穌在世上最後一年開始傳道的情形，祂帶著祂的門徒到一個叫凱撒利亞‧腓立比的地方並對他們說話，耶穌在第13節問祂的門徒：「一般人說人子是誰？」
在回答這個問題時，彼得表明了他對耶穌的信心，他說：「你是基督，是永生上帝的兒子」（第16b節）。彼得稱呼耶穌為「彌賽亞」，希伯來文的「彌賽亞」和希臘文的「基督」是上帝差派來拯救全人類的那位救世主的稱呼。
彼得的表白顯示出他真的相信耶穌是上帝的兒子、是他的救主。今天我們必須承認自己相信耶穌是上帝的兒子，這是順服上帝、接受祂美好救恩禮物過程中的一部份。
注意第20節說，耶穌吩咐祂的門徒不要告訴其他人祂是彌賽亞，但是今天我們卻不能這樣，耶穌希望我們去告訴別人我們相信祂。 —HLN

　Our Bible verses today tell us about the beginning of Jesus' last year of ministry on earth. He took His disciples to a place called Caesarea Philippi and talked with them. Jesus asked His disciples in verse 13, “Who do people say I am?” In answer to that question, Peter confessed his faith in Jesus. He said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (verse 16b). Peter called Jesus “Messiah.” “Messiah” was the Hebrew name and “Christ” was the Greek name for the One God would send to save all people.
Peter's confession showed that he truly believed that Jesus was God's Son and his Savior. Today we need to confess that we believe Jesus is God's Son. This is part of the process of obeying God and receiving His wonderful gift of salvation.
Notice that verse 20 says Jesus told His disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah. That is not true for us today. Jesus wants us to tell other people about our faith in Him. —HLN

When my children were young, they looked forward to Christmas. As soon as they realized Christmas was coming soon, they would start to think about the cookies, the decorations and the presents. But I always reminded my children that we should look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus and remembering what God did for us. 　Our Bible Reading today is about Simeon. “He was a good man who was devoted to God. He was waiting for the time when God would come to help Israel” (verse 25b). When Simeon saw baby Jesus at the temple, he was happy and praised God. Simeon knew that Jesus was the promised Messiah that the prophets had talked about. 　Today we can be excited as we look forward to celebrating Christmas. But we can also look forward to the time when Jesus will come again. Thank God for Jesus and for the gift of eternal life! —BH “Men from Galilee, why are you standing here looking into the sky? You saw Jesus carried away from you into heaven. Some people like to buy Christmas gifts during sales in July. They are happy to find good bargains on Christmas gifts. 　Christmas gifts are nice, but we should remember that our greatest gift is Jesus! In our Bible Reading today, we learn about Simeon who was serving in the temple. He was waiting to see the Messiah — the One whom God would send to be the Savior of the world. The Holy Spirit told Simeon that he would see the Messiah before he died. 　When Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple, Simeon knew that Jesus was the Messiah. Simeon thanked God for letting him see Jesus. Simeon prayed, “I have seen with my own eyes how you will save your people” (verse 30). 　As you buy gifts for your family and friends throughout the year, remember that God’s greatest gift to us is His Son, Jesus. The Jewish people waited for the Messiah (God’s Son) to come to earth. From the time that Adam and Eve sinned, God planned to send His only Son to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. 　Many verses from the Old Testament talk about Jesus being born. Jewish people looked forward to the time when God would send His Son to earth. The shepherds did not seem surprised to learn that God’s Son had been born (Luke 2:11). The wise men studied the stars and expected the King of the Jews to be born (Matthew 2:1-2). 　When it was time for Jesus to be born, Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem. Mary gave birth to her baby and laid Him in an animal feeding box. Joseph and Mary obeyed God and named the baby Jesus. 　The world waited a long time for God’s Son. Now the waiting was over. Jesus was born to grow up and die for you and me. Worship Him this Christmas season. —IMJ “God will give us a son who will be responsible for leading the people. An angel from God came to a group of shepherds near Bethlehem. This angel told the shepherds that Jesus had been born. The angel said (verse 11), “Today your Savior was born in David’s town. He is the Messiah, the Lord.” 　For many years, the Jews had waited for God to send someone to save them from their sins. The Jews used the name “Messiah” to describe the one who would be God’s special person. The word “Christ” means the same thing as “Messiah.” 　When the shepherds heard that the Christ had been born, they hurried to Bethlehem to see Him. Later the shepherds returned to their sheep. Verse 20a of our Bible Reading tells us that the “shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God and thanking him for everything they had seen and heard.” 　The shepherds praised and thanked God for Jesus. If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, God’s chosen one, praise and thank Him today. —JK “So they went running and found Mary and Joseph. Jesus’ Hometown

Our Bible verses today tell us that Jesus went to His hometown of Nazareth. The people there did not believe that He was the Messiah or their Savior. They only saw Him as a boy who had grown up in Nazareth. 　Isaiah, chapter 53, is a prophecy about God’s Son. This prophecy said that people would reject Jesus and that He would suffer and die. Many Jews thought that God’s Son would come to earth and reign as a king. They did not think He would be a servant and a person who suffered. 　Sometimes today people have wrong ideas about Jesus. Maybe they accept some of Jesus’ miracles but refuse to believe in His resurrection. Or they think that Jesus was only a man and not the Son of God. 　Be sure that you understand who Jesus really is. Read the Bible and learn about Him. Then believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life. —SH* “The Spirit of the Lord is on me. He has chosen me to tell good news to the poor. Jesus, the Messiah

God told His people, the Israelites, that someday He would send a person to save them. This person was called the Messiah. There are many Old Testament verses that talk about the Messiah. These verses also describe what the Messiah will do. 　In our Bible Reading today, Jesus asked His disciples (verse 13b), “Who do people say I am?” They told Jesus that some people thought He was John the Baptizer, Elijah or Jeremiah. Then in verse 15 Jesus asked His disciples, “And who do you say I am?” 　Peter said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (verse 16). Peter knew that Jesus was chosen and sent by God. We need to be like Peter and say that we know that Jesus is God’s Son. Jesus is our Savior. Through Him we have the promise of eternal life. 　Who do you say Jesus is? Is He just a good man who lived long ago? Or is He your Lord and Savior? —JA* “Martha answered, ‘Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God.
