Psalm 119 (7)
Bible Reading: Psalm 119:49-56
Wednesday, October 12, 2016

In the past, I have sat in rooms where I didn't want to be. One time I waited in a medical clinic to find out if I had cancer or not. Another time I sat in a hospital room, waiting to see if my husband was alive or not after his accident. I also sat in a doctor's office waiting to learn about my son's medical tests.
In all of these situations, God's Word gave me peace and hope. As I waited in these places, I remembered Bible verses like “Don't be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you” (Joshua 1:9b) and “Don't worry — I am with you. Don't be afraid — I am your God” (Isaiah 41:10a).
When I remember Bible verses that tell me God's promises, I find hope and strength. In verse 49 of our Bible Reading, the writer says that God’s promises give him hope.
I hope you will depend on God’s promises to give you peace, strength and hope today. —BH

“Remember your promise to me, your servant. It gives me hope. You comfort me in my suffering, because your promise gives me new life.” Psalm 119:49-50
PRAYER: Lord, when I face hard times in my life, help me to find hope through Your promises. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Jesus (4)
Bible Reading: 1 John 4:14-16
Thursday, August 25, 2016

Many people ask, “Does it really matter that Jesus is God's Son?” Some people think Jesus was Joseph's son or another man's son. But our Bible verses today tell us that knowing Jesus is Gods Son is very important.
Who cares if Jesus is God's Son? I do! If Jesus is not God’s Son, then the Bible is not true (Luke 1:35). If Jesus is not God's Son, then Jesus is a liar (Luke 22:70), and God is a liar, too (Mark 1:1). If Jesus is not God's Son, then the evil spirits would not have obeyed Him (Mark 3:11,12). If Jesus is not God's Son, then I cannot have life forever (John 3:16). THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE!
I thank God that Jesus is His Son. Jesus is also my Savior. He is preparing a place in heaven for me. Someday Jesus will come back to take me to live with Him forever. If Jesus were just the son of some man, He couldn’t do those things. I hope you believe that Jesus is truly the Son of God! —DK

“They all said, ‘Then are you the Son of God?’ Jesus said to them, ‘You are right in saying that I am.’” Luke 22:70
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus, Your Son. I believe He is Your Son. I will trust Him to save me and give me eternal life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Christmas Emotions (8)
Bible Reading: Psalm 39:1-13
Sunday, December 23, 2012

Christmas Emotions (8) One emotion that many people experience at Christmas is hope. Hope means that we expect God to keep His promises.
Without Jesus, we have no hope. We are lost and forever separated from God. But Jesus was born to give us hope. Jesus chose to leave heaven and come to earth as a human baby. He chose to live as a man and die on the cross. Because Jesus died, we don’t need to be separated from God.
Through Jesus, we have the hope of forgiveness and eternal life. We can be sure that God will make these things happen. And this hope gives us strength to continue serving God every day.
Verse 7 of today’s Bible Reading says, “So, Master [God], what hope do I have? You are my hope.” God is your hope through this Christmas season and every day of the year. Trust and follow Him today. —GT
“My soul, wait patiently for God to save me! God is my only hope. God is my fortress. God saves me. God is my place of safety high on the mountain.” Psalm 62:5-6
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for always keeping Your promises. And thank You for the hope I have through Your Son, Jesus. In His name. Amen.

—SAH

God Helps Me (5)
Bible Reading: Psalm 34:17-22
Thursday September 13, 2012

God Helps Me (5) My husband had to be out of town, and I was alone. That reminded me of another time long ago when I was alone. An important relationship in my life had ended. My heart was broken, but no doctor could fix it.
While I was feeling sad and alone, I went to church. People I didn’t even know showed me God’s love and His plan for my life. They encouraged and comforted me and gave me hope. One Sunday the pastor invited people to come forward and follow Jesus. I knew that Jesus was waiting for me. He healed my broken heart.
David wrote Psalm 34 when he was going through a bad time — just like me! In verse 18 he said, “When some people have troubles they stop being proud. The Lord is close to those humble people. He will save them.” God is near us when we are sad or broken-hearted.
No matter what is happening in your life today, God will be with you and help you. Ask Him to love and heal you. —SAH

“Look to God for help. You will be accepted. Don’t be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5

PRAYER: God, thank You for saving and healing me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
