罪的意思是違反上帝的規定。我們每天都可以看見罪在我們四周；我們在電影中看見罪，在電視節目中看見罪，在書和雜誌中也讀到罪。 　今天閱讀的經文跟我們談到世上的第一個罪。上帝創造了世界，祂也創造了最早的人類，上帝把這些人，也就是亞當和夏娃，放到一個特別的園子裡，並給他們一條規定：「惟有園當中那棵樹上的果子，上帝曾說：『你們不可吃，也不可摸，免得你們死』」（第3節）。 　有一天魔鬼來找夏娃並引誘她去吃那棵樹上的果子，魔鬼告訴她說，吃了那果子並不會死，所以夏娃就吃了一些，又給亞當吃了一些。他們違背了上帝，這就是第一個罪。 　從此以後，所有人都必須努力對抗罪，魔鬼企圖欺騙我們違背上帝，但我們應該要持守剛強、遠離魔鬼。今天就向上帝禱告，祈求祂幫助你抗拒魔鬼。 －MS 「所以，你們要順服上帝；要抗拒魔鬼，魔鬼就會逃避。」 雅各書4:7 禱告：天父，我願順服祢，求祢賜給我力量來抗拒魔鬼。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (林威妮譯)

Sin means breaking God’s rules. We can see sin all around us every day. We see it in movies and TV that we watch and in books and magazines that we read. 　Our Bible Reading today tells us about the first sin on earth. God made the earth, and He also made the first people. God put these people, Adam and Eve, in a special garden. And God gave them one rule: “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden. You must not even touch that tree, or you will die” (verse 3b). 　One day the devil came to Eve and tempted her to eat the fruit from that tree. The devil said that she would not die if she ate the fruit. So Eve ate some and gave some to Adam. They disobeyed God. This was the first sin. 　Since that time, all people have struggled with sin. The devil tries to trick us into disobeying God. But we should stand strong and turn away from the devil. Pray to God and ask Him to help you stand against the devil today. —MS “So give yourselves to God. We are finally at the end of Ecclesiastes, and now the writer tells us what is most important in life. 　Throughout the book, the writer has looked at wealth, wisdom, success and other things in life. Now he concludes that, “The most important thing a person can do is to respect God and obey his commands” (verse 13b). He does not say that we should try to have more wealth, wisdom or success. The writer says that we should respect and obey God. 　If we respect God, we will pay attention to His Word, the Bible, and obey it. When we read and study the Bible, we learn more about God and how we can follow Him. 　I hope that you have learned some good lessons from the verses we studied in Ecclesiastes. Even though these verses were written a long time ago, they still have important messages for us today. May God bless you as you respect and obey Him! —JK “Praise the Lord! Our verses today were written for young people. But I think that older people can learn from these verses, too. 　The writer encourages young people to do whatever their heart leads them to do. But he also adds this warning, “...remember that God will judge you for everything you do” (verse 9b). Young people should enjoy their lives, but not do things that lead to sin. 　Then in verse 10, the writer reminds young people to not let their anger control them or let their bodies lead them to sin. The world is filled with so many temptations for young people today. They need to remember to be wise and not foolish. Finally, in verse 1 of chapter 12, the writer tells young people to remember God and obey Him. 　Whether you are young or old, it is good for you to carefully follow and obey God’s Word every day. Don’t waste the time that God has given to you. The world is filled with people who claim that they are wise. Some of these people even think that they can understand God. But that is not true. Verse 17a of our Bible Reading says, “I also saw that no one can understand all that God does.” 　Do you know how many stars are in the sky? Do you know how big the universe is? Do you know how many drops of water are in the oceans? We don’t know these things, but God does! 　When I think about those questions, I feel frustrated that I can’t figure out the answers. I need to realize that I am not wise like God. He does not expect me to have all the answers. But God does expect me to learn all I can and obey His teachings in the Bible. 　When you think about the world today, remember that God is wise and all-knowing. Thank Him for His Word and ask Him to help you obey it. —JK “The Lord says, ‘My thoughts are not like yours. Your ways are not like mine. In chapter 7 of Ecclesiastes, the writer includes a list of wise teachings. These teachings are very similar to those written by King Solomon in the book of Proverbs. 　Verses 7 through 9 give us some wise teachings that are good for us to follow. Verse 7 talks about bribery. Bribery may seem to be the easy way to get something done. But it only makes people act foolish and stupid. 　Verse 8 reminds us that when we start something, it is important for us to finish it. And this verse also tells us that it is “better to be gentle and patient than to be proud and impatient.” 　Verse 9 talks about anger. We should not become angry quickly. Why? Because “anger is foolish.” 　I encourage you to read all of Ecclesiastes, chapter 7. Then use these wise teachings in your life today. —JK “Look at what God has made. You cannot change a thing, even if you think it is wrong. When life is good, enjoy it. Many people today worship their money. In our Bible reading, the writer of Ecclesiastes looks at what people think about money and wealth. 　People think that wealth gives them satisfaction. But the writer says that “those who love wealth will not be satisfied when they get more and more” (verse 10b). Many people also think that money will solve all their problems. But really having a lot of money only makes new problems for us. 　Some people believe that wealth gives them peace of mind. But we can think about many people whose lives have been ruined by their wealth. Finally, the writer says that people think that money gives them security. But bad things can happen and cause us to lose our money. 　We all need money to live, but it cannot bring us true happiness. True happiness can only come from a close relationship with God. Are you close to Him today? —JK “People come into the world with nothing. And when they die, they leave with nothing. In our Bible verses today, the writer shows us the importance of friendship. He says that it is good when people work together. “Two people are better than one. When two people work together, they get more work done” (verse 9). 　As I read these verses, I think about two people traveling together long ago. As they walk, the two of them can get more work done. They can also help each other if they stumble and fall. When they sleep at night, they can keep each other warm. And if danger comes, they can defend each other. Then the writer goes on to say that three people together are even better than two. They are like a strong rope made of three strands. 　I feel happy when I think about my many friends. Some have worked with me. Many friends have prayed for me and encouraged me. A few friends have protected me when I was in danger. 　God has blessed you with friends. Thank Him today for people who help and encourage you. —JK “And three people are even stronger. The verses in our Bible Reading today are very familiar to many people. In the 1960s a popular American folk song was based on these verses. Verse 1 says, “There is a right time for everything, and everything on earth will happen at the right time.” 　It is very important that we recognize that God is in control of the universe. From the time we are born until the time we die, God has a plan for our lives. We don’t always understand what God is doing, but we still need to trust and depend on Him. 　These verses remind us that we will face many things in life. Some of these things are birth, death, crying, laughter, sadness, joy, love, hatred, keeping things, throwing away things, war and peace. As we face these things, we need to allow God to work in our lives. Then our lives will have meaning and purpose. 　Trust God to direct your life today! —JK “We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. 每一天上帝都祝福我們，祂賜下陽光來溫暖我們並讓植物、樹木成長。上帝賜下空氣讓我們呼吸，賜水給我們喝，賜食物給我們吃，但我們常常忘記為這些重要的事感謝上帝。 　在今天的經文閱讀中，作者主張「一個人能夠吃喝，享受他辛勞的成果，便算是幸福的了」（第24a節），這對現今的我們是一個好忠告，但是比這個更重要的是，作者明白所有這些美好的祝福都來自上帝：「要不是出於上帝，誰能吃喝？誰能享受？」（第25b節） 　也許你正好有困難，所以你認為上帝並沒有祝福你，但是就算遇到困難，上帝仍然祝福我們。上帝賜給我們智慧和力量來幫助我們解決問題並將榮耀歸給祂。 　今天就想一想上帝祝福?的各種方式，然後花時間感謝祂、讚美祂！ －JK 「上帝賜智慧、知識，和喜樂給那使他喜歡的人。」 傳道書2:26a 禱告：上帝，祢為我成就了好多奇妙的事，謝謝祢每一天都祝福我。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (尤榮輝譯)

Every day God gives us blessings. He sends sunshine to keep us warm and to make the plants and trees grow. God gives us air to breathe, water to drink and food to eat. Often we forget to thank God for these important things. 　In our Bible verses today, the writer decided that the “best thing people can do is eat, drink, and enjoy the work they must do” (verse 24b). That is good advice for us today. But more important than this, the writer realized that all these wonderful blessings come from God. “I also saw that this comes from God” (verse 25b). 　Maybe you have problems so you think that God is not blessing you. But God blesses us, even when we are facing problems. God gives us wisdom and strength to help us work through our problems and give glory to Him. 　Think about the many ways that God is blessing you today. Then take time to thank Him and praise Him! —JK “If people do good and please God, he will give them wisdom, knowledge, and joy.” Ecclesiastes 2:26a PRAYER: God, You do so many wonderful things for me. 今天閱讀的經文提醒我們「太陽底下一件新事都沒有」（第9b節）。每一天，太陽從東邊升起、在西邊落下；先是吹南風，接著再吹北風；濤濤江水往海裡流去。 　人也不會真的有什麼改變，你也許會看到電視新聞，認為現在的世界真是糟糕透頂，現今的人們仍然重複幾千年前的人所犯的罪。 　想到世界沒有變得更好也許讓人感到沮喪，但是有好消息！聖經告訴我們，耶穌是永遠一樣的──祂永不改變，意思是我們可以永遠倚靠耶穌來作為我們生命的主和救主。 　今天當你環顧四周、看到壞事發生時，請記得，你可以永遠倚靠耶穌，祂永遠等著要跟你分享祂的愛和平安。 －JK 「耶穌基督，昨天、今天、直到永遠，都是一樣。」 希伯來書13:8 禱告：天父，我好高興耶穌永不改變，謝謝祢差派祂為我的罪死在十架上。奉主的名，阿們！ (尤榮輝譯)

Our Bible verses today remind us that there “is nothing new in this life” (verse 9b). The sun comes up in the east and sets in the west every day. The wind blows from the south and then from the north. And the rivers flow into the oceans. 　People don’t really change either. You may watch the news on TV and think that things in the world now are worse than ever. But people are still doing the same sins they have been doing for thousands of years. 　It may be depressing to think that things in the world are not getting better. But there is good news! The Bible tells us that Jesus is always the same — He never changes. That means that we can always depend on Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. 　As you look around you today and see bad things happening, remember that you can always depend on Jesus. He is always ready to share His love and peace with you. —JK “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I am so glad that Jesus never changes.
