　那幾個星象家可能是受良好教育的有錢人，他們也許過慣了舒適的生活。
今天經文閱讀的第2節告訴我們，星象家去問人：「那出生要作猶太人的王的在哪裡？我們在東方看見了他的星，特地來朝拜他。」星象家願意離開舒適的生活長途爬涉去拜見新生王。
星象家犧牲他們的時間準備長途旅行，他們也花不少錢購買旅途所需的補給品，以及要送給耶穌的貴重禮物，這些人明白耶穌比起他們肉體的舒適或是財富更加重要。
今天就想一想這些星象家，然後問自己，耶穌是否比舒適的生活和金錢更加重要？ —GT

　The wise men were probably well-educated, wealthy men. They may have been used to living a comfortable life.
Verse 2 of our Bible Reading tells us that the wise men asked people, “Where is the child who has been born to be the king of the Jews? We saw the star that shows he was born. We saw it rise in the sky in the east and have come to worship him.” The wise men were willing to leave their easy lifestyle in order to make a hard and long trip to see the new king.
The wise men sacrificed their time to prepare for and make the long journey. They also sacrificed much money to buy supplies for the trip and the expensive gifts for Jesus. These men understood that Jesus is more important than their physical comfort or their wealth.
Think about the wise men today. And then ask yourself if Jesus is more important than having comfort and money. —GT

　有一個小男孩用一元紙鈔舖滿整張床，那是他去幫人除草賺到的錢，這個小男孩內心充滿了喜樂。
有一個母親看著剛出生的孩子，她看著孩子的眼睛和笑容，這個母親洋溢著喜樂。
這些是都是帶給我們大喜樂的寶物，但是我們可以擁有、最珍貴的寶物是認識我們的救主耶穌。在今天讀的經文中，保羅說他「把萬事看作虧損的，因為我以認識我主基督耶穌為至寶」（第8b節）。有耶穌作為救主是我們可以擁有的最大喜樂。
我們都曾有過不信靠上帝來看顧自己的時候，但是我們可以知道祂永遠與我們同在，永遠不會讓我們失望。你想要經歷大喜樂嗎？請將一生交託給上帝並天天為祂而活。 —LHD

　A young boy placed $1 bills on his bed, covering the entire top of the bed. He had earned this money mowing lawns. The young boy was filled with joy.
A mother looked at her newborn child. She looked at the child’s eyes and smile. The mother was overflowing with joy.
These are examples of treasures that brought great joy. But the most precious treasure that we can have is to know Jesus as our Savior. In our Bible verses, Paul said that all the great things that happened to him were “worth nothing compared with the greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (verse 8b). Having Jesus as our Savior is the greatest joy we can have.
We have all experienced times when we did not trust God to take care of us. But we can know that He is always with us and will never let us down. Do you want to experience great joy? Give your life to God and live for Him every day. —LHD

“All I want is to know Christ and the power that raised him from death.” Philippians 3:10a

　我們今天讀的經文告訴我們耶穌在世上最後一年開始傳道的情形，祂帶著祂的門徒到一個叫凱撒利亞‧腓立比的地方並對他們說話，耶穌在第13節問祂的門徒：「一般人說人子是誰？」
在回答這個問題時，彼得表明了他對耶穌的信心，他說：「你是基督，是永生上帝的兒子」（第16b節）。彼得稱呼耶穌為「彌賽亞」，希伯來文的「彌賽亞」和希臘文的「基督」是上帝差派來拯救全人類的那位救世主的稱呼。
彼得的表白顯示出他真的相信耶穌是上帝的兒子、是他的救主。今天我們必須承認自己相信耶穌是上帝的兒子，這是順服上帝、接受祂美好救恩禮物過程中的一部份。

　Our Bible verses today tell us about the beginning of Jesus' last year of ministry on earth. He took His disciples to a place called Caesarea Philippi and talked with them. Jesus asked His disciples in verse 13, “Who do people say I am?” In answer to that question, Peter confessed his faith in Jesus. He said, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God” (verse 16b). Peter called Jesus “Messiah.” “Messiah” was the Hebrew name and “Christ” was the Greek name for the One God would send to save all people.
Peter's confession showed that he truly believed that Jesus was God's Son and his Savior. Today we need to confess that we believe Jesus is God's Son. This is part of the process of obeying God and receiving His wonderful gift of salvation.
Notice that verse 20 says Jesus told His disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah. That is not true for us today. Jesus wants us to tell other people about our faith in Him. —HLN

　我們都是罪人，當我們決定將耶穌作為我們生命之主和救主時，祂就赦免了我們的罪、使我們潔淨了。之後我們每天努力跟隨並遵從耶穌，當我們這麼做時，別人就可以看見耶穌住在我們裡面。
我有許多未信主的同事，我努力活出見證好讓我的同事看見我跟他們是不一樣的，當我用不一樣的方式來做事時，他們會問我為什麼我不那麼做、不那麼說，這時我就可以跟他們談談耶穌，以及祂如何改變了我。
在今天閱讀的經文中，保羅列舉了許多我們不應該做的事，然後他也列了幾項聖靈會在生活中幫助我們發展的特質：「至於聖靈所結的果子，就是：博愛、喜樂、和平、忍耐、仁慈、良善、忠信、溫柔、節制」（第22-23a節）。
想一想你的生命，別人是不是看見耶穌住在你裡面呢？ —AB

　We are all sinners. When we decide to make Jesus our Lord and Savior, He forgives our sins and makes us pure. Then we try to follow and obey Jesus every day. When we do that, other people will see Jesus living in us.
I work with many people who are not Christians. I try to live so that my co-workers will see that I am different than they are. When I act differently, they ask me why I don't do certain things or say certain words. Then I am able to tell them about Jesus and how He has changed me.
In our Bible Reading today, Paul lists many things that we should not do. Then he includes a list of characteristics that the Holy Spirit helps us develop in our lives. “But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person's life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (verses 22-23a).
Think about your life. Do other people see Jesus living in you? —AB

再過幾個星期，全世界的基督徒將要慶祝耶穌的誕生，今天和接下來的幾天，我們要來談耶穌和祂來到世上的特別目的。

有些人只想到耶穌是出生在伯利恆的一個嬰孩，他們並沒有想到耶穌的事工、祂的死和復活。今天閱讀的經文第15a節告訴我們耶穌來到世上的理由：「『基督耶穌降世的目的是要拯救罪人』這話是可靠、值得完全接受的。」

耶穌來世上的特別目的是要為我們的罪受死，若沒有祂的死和復活，耶穌在世上的生命就沒有意義了。上帝差派耶穌成為我們罪的完美犧牲。

明天我們會開始談耶穌的死和它對我們的意義，我希望你在慶祝聖誕節的時候會思考這些事情。今天就讚美上帝差派耶穌受死！ —JK

In a few weeks, Christians around the world will celebrate Jesus’ birth. Today and for the next few days we will talk about Jesus and His special purpose for coming to earth.

Some people only think about Jesus as a baby born in Bethlehem. They do not think about Jesus’ ministry, His death or His resurrection. Verse 15a of our Bible Reading tells us the reason Jesus came to earth. “Here is a true statement that should be accepted without question: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”

Jesus’ special purpose in coming to earth was to die for our sins. Without His death and resurrection, Jesus’ life on earth would be meaningless. God sent Jesus to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins.

Tomorrow we will begin talking about Jesus’ death and what it means to us. I hope you will think about these things as you celebrate Christmas. Praise God today for sending Jesus to die! —JK

參觀豪宅是我很喜歡做的一件事，我總是會注意那些高大的窗戶和華麗的窗簾，我好奇想知道他們是如何保持這些窗戶和窗簾的乾淨！

我們今天閱讀的經文跟我們談到聖幕中一幅華麗的帳幔，這是上帝設計的帳幔，所以我們知道它一定非常美麗，第31節說：「要用麻紗和藍色、紫色、深紅色的毛線織成一幅帳幔，上面繡著基路伯圖案。」這幅帳幔把聖所和至聖所隔開，大祭司會每年一次進入至聖所為以色列人的罪獻祭。

新約聖經跟我們談到有一幅類似的帳幔掛在耶路撒冷的聖殿中，當耶穌死在十字架上的時候，這幅帳幔裂成兩半，這向我們顯明，唯有耶穌能赦免我們的罪並且帶領我們親近上帝。你要感謝上帝差派耶穌為了你的罪受死！ －DB

Curtains

One thing I enjoy doing is touring old mansions. I always notice the tall windows and the fancy curtains. I wonder how they kept those windows and curtains clean!

Our Bible Reading today tells us about a fancy curtain in the Holy Tent. God designed this curtain, so we know that it must have been very beautiful. Verse 31 says, “Use fine linen and make a special curtain for the inside of the Holy Tent. Use blue, purple, and red yarn and sew pictures of Cherub angels into the curtain.” This curtain separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place. One time a year, the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place to make a sacrifice for the sins of the Israelites.

The New Testament tells us about a similar curtain that hung in the temple in Jerusalem. When Jesus died on the cross, that curtain was torn in two. That shows us that Jesus is the only one who can forgive our sins and bring us close to God. Thank God for sending Jesus to die for your sins! —DB

I know some Christians who never grow spiritually. They come to church every week, but they do not mature. Why does this happen? 　Our Bible Reading today helps us understand about growing as a Christian. In these verses, Jesus explained His story about the seeds. Jesus was talking about God’s teaching, and He explained that some people receive God’s teaching and grow. Other people receive it but do not grow. 　Some people accept Jesus as their Savior, but they do not allow Him to be King over their lives. If Jesus is truly our King, we will obey Him and yield to His will every day. We will always choose Jesus’ way instead of our own way. 　Is Jesus the King of your life? Are you growing and learning more about Him every day? Hold onto Jesus. He will never let you down. —SH* “I am the vine, and you are the branches. Our Bible Reading today tells us that the wise men came to King Herod in Jerusalem. They said (verse 2), “Where is the child who has been born to be the king of the Jews?” The wise men were looking for Jesus. They knew that baby Jesus was born to rule over the Jews. 　Micah prophesied in Micah 5:2, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, are the smallest town in Judah. Your family is almost too small to count, but the ‘Ruler of Israel’ will come from you to rule for me. His beginnings are from ancient times, from long, long ago.” Micah said that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. He also said that Jesus would be the ruler of Israel. 　While Jesus was on earth, He worked and lived among the Jews. He taught them He had come to bring salvation. Later God told Peter that salvation through Jesus was for the Gentiles (non-Jews), too. God wants all people to follow Jesus. 　I hope that Jesus is the ruler of your life. We can read the story about Jesus’ birth in the New Testament books of Matthew and Luke. Several Old Testament prophets talked about Jesus’ birth, too. When we read these verses, we learn that Jesus was called different names. Today and for the next few days, we will look at seven names for Jesus. 　In our Bible Reading today, we read that an angel came to Joseph in a dream. The angel told Joseph to give Mary’s baby the name Jesus. This is the name that most New Testament writers use. But what does the name Jesus mean? Verse 21b says, “Give him that name because he will save his people from their sins.” “Jesus” means savior or salvation. 　God sent Jesus to the earth to die on the cross. Jesus died to save you and me from the punishment for our sins. Jesus is our Savior. 　This Christmas season, don’t just think about baby Jesus. Remember that Jesus grew up and became the Savior of the world. Thank God for His wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus. —JK “Today your Savior was born in David’s town. Now Jesus appeared before Herod. It is interesting that our Bible verses tell us that Herod was happy to see Jesus. Why? Because Herod had heard about Jesus and wanted Him to do a miracle. 　But Jesus knew how Herod felt, and He did not reply to Herod’s questions. “Jesus said nothing” (verse 9b). The Jewish religious leaders were there, too. They shouted bad things about Jesus. “Herod and his soldiers laughed at him. They made fun of him by dressing him in clothes like kings wear” (verse 11a). 　It is hard for me to read about the terrible things that these people did to Jesus. Jesus is God’s Son and the King of Israel. But the people hurt Jesus and mocked Him. 　What will you do with Jesus today? Will you make fun of Him and reject Him? Or will you love and serve and honor Him as your Savior and Lord? —DF “God did this so that all people will respect the Son the same as they respect the Father. Anyone who does not respect the Son does not respect the Father. He is the one who sent the Son.” John 5:23 PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want to honor and serve Jesus today. In His name.
