Good from Bad (4)
Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 11:24-33
Monday, January 4, 2016

Paul traveled, started churches and encouraged Christians. But as Paul traveled, he also faced many bad times.
In our Bible verses today, Paul listed some of the bad things that happened to him — beatings, shipwrecks, prison and dangerous situations. Even though Paul faced these bad things, his ministry helped many people know about Jesus.
Acts, chapter 28, tells us that Paul was taken to Rome and put in prison. That was a bad thing. But again, God brought about good things from this experience. Even though Paul was in prison, he was allowed to stay in a house. “He welcomed all the people who came and visited him. He told them about God's kingdom and taught them about the Lord Jesus Christ. He was very bold, and no one tried to stop him from speaking” (Acts 28:30b-31).
Take time today to think about the good things that have happened in your life. Ask God to help you be bold as you tell others about Jesus. —JK

“I do all this to make the Good News known. I do it so that I can share in the blessings of the Good News.” 1 Corinthians 9:23
PRAYER: Father, I want to tell others about You and Jesus. In His name. Amen.

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 17:41-51
Wednesday, December 30, 2015

David was the youngest boy in his family. His older brothers were in Israel's army, fighting the Philistines. One Philistine soldier, Goliath, was over nine feet tall. He challenged the Israelites to send someone to fight him. David went to the soldiers' camp. He heard Goliath say bad things about God. David decided he would fight Goliath.
David knew that the only way he could defeat Goliath was with God's help. David went to meet Goliath. David said (verse 45b), “You come to me using sword, spear and javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord All-Powerful, the God of the armies of Israel!” David also told Goliath, “Today the Lord will let me defeat you! I will kill you” (verse 46a).

After David killed Goliath, he could have boasted about what he had done. Instead, David was humble. He wanted people to know that God had helped him. We should be humble, too. We should remember that God helps us do things. Be humble today and depend on God' strength to help you. —JK

Be Bold
Bible Reading: Acts 4:1-13
Thursday, May 8, 2014

Be Bold When I was young, I was very timid and shy. I wanted people to like me and accept me. I did not want to do things that made other people upset with me.
Our Bible Reading shows us that Peter and John were not like that. They were very bold. They preached about Jesus to the Jewish leaders. Peter and John did not care if the leaders became upset and punished them.
Verse 13b tells us what the Jewish leaders thought about Peter and John. “They also realized that Peter and John had been with Jesus.” Peter and John had lived and worked with Jesus. Jesus was real to them. That’s why Peter and John were able to speak boldly.
When I was convinced that I needed Jesus as my Savior, I became more bold. I knew that He would be with me, help me and protect me. Then I began to witness to others about what Jesus had done for me.
I hope you will be bold for Jesus today! —SH*
“Be careful. Hold firmly to your faith. Have courage and be strong. Do everything in love.”1 Corinthians 16:13-14
PRAYER: Father, give me the strength to be bold for You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
