Good from Bad (2)
Bible Reading: Genesis 50:15-23
Saturday, January 2, 2016

Joseph had many bad experiences in his life. Joseph was sold into slavery in Egypt by his brothers, his master’s wife lied about him and he was put in prison. Then while he was in prison, someone promised to help him but forgot about him for two years!
Through all these bad experiences, Joseph remained faithful to God. With God’s help, Joseph was able to interpret dreams. Because of that, Joseph was put in a high position in Egypt. Joseph stored up food for a future time of famine. Later Joseph was able to save his own family from starvation and bring them to live with him in Egypt.

In our Bible verses today Joseph talked to his brothers. In verse 20a he said, “It is true that you planned to do something bad to me. But really, God was planning good things.” Even after all these bad things happened to Joseph, he was able to see that God had blessed him and taken care of him.
You may be going through some bad times right now. Remember to always depend on God to take care of you. —JK

“God’s plan was to use me to save the lives of many people. And that is what happened.” Genesis 50:20b
PRAYER: God, I will depend on You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hymns (3)
Bible Reading: Psalm 147:1-20
Monday, May 18, 2015

Hymns (3) At Thanksgiving time, we thank God for our blessings throughout the year. But sometimes we forget to thank Him every day for the wonderful ways He takes care of us.
Martin Rinkart (1586-1649) wrote the hymn, “Now Thank We All Our God,” while his country was involved in a terrible war. There was much sickness and hunger during the war. One year, Martin conducted over five thousand funerals for people who had died! Yet, he was able to write the wonderful words of this hymn: “Now thank we all our God with heart and hands and voices.”
Psalm 147 lists many wonderful things that God does for us — making the grass grow, sending rain and snow, and providing food for us and for the animals.
Look around at the world today and see the many things God has done for you. Then thank Him for His wonderful blessings. —BH
“Praise the Lord because he is good. Sing praises to our God. It is good and pleasant to praise him.” Psalm 147:1
PRAYER: Dear God, every day You bless me and take care of me. Thank You for all You do for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Psalm 136
Bible Reading: Psalm 136:1-26
Monday, May 6, 2013

Psalm 136 Psalm 136 is a beautiful psalm of praise to God. After each of the 26 verses in this psalm, the writer says, “His faithful love will last forever.”
Throughout the psalm, the writer talks about things that God did. These things show us that God loves His people, and He will continue to love them forever.
Verse 4 says that God has done wonderful miracles. Verses 5-9 remind us about the things God created — skies, land, seas, sun, moon and stars. The rest of the verses in Psalm 136 praise God for things that He did for His people, the Israelites.
As Christians, it should be easy for us to list the wonderful things God has done for us. Maybe you can take time today to think about what God has done for you. And remember that “His faithful love will last forever.” —ECW
“Praise the Lord because he is good. His faithful love will last forever. Praise the God of gods! His faithful love will last forever. Praise the Lord of lords! His faithful love will last forever.” Psalm 136:1-3
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, You truly have blessed me and taken care of me. Thank You for Your great love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
