害怕

去年，我曾經感到非常害怕，我害怕是因為我跟室友和一些朋友去看了一部很恐怖的電影。電影結束後我就上床睡覺了，但是我卻夢見那場恐怖的電影。當醒來的時候，我仍然感到害怕，每一次閉上雙眼時，我就想起那部電影的片段。 　自從那一次以後，我想了想自己的恐懼經驗，或許我不應該去看那一場電影，但可以確定的是，當感到害怕時，我應該回轉向上帝來平靜自己並幫助自己不要害怕。 　在今天閱讀的經文中，耶穌和祂的門徒正在湖上的一艘船上，有一場暴風雨來襲，浪濤掩蓋了船身，耶穌的門徒感到很害怕，但耶穌說：「為甚麼這樣害怕？你們的信心太小了！」（第26節）然後耶穌平息了那場暴風雨。 　或許今天你會感到害怕，請記住上帝與你同在，就讓祂來安慰你並賜給你祂的平安。 －CP 「因為，上帝所賜給我們的靈不使我們膽怯；相反地，他的靈會使我們充滿力量、愛心，和自制。」 提摩太後書1:7 禱告：天父，當我害怕的時候，求祢幫助我記得祢與我同在。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (陳萍萍譯)

Afraid

Last year, I was very afraid. I was afraid because I watched a very scary movie with my roommate and some friends. After the movie was finished, I went to bed. But I dreamed about the scary movie. When I woke up, I was still afraid. Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered parts of the movie. 　Since that time, I have thought about my experience with fear. I probably should not have watched that movie. But for sure, when I became afraid, I should have turned to God to calm me and help me not be afraid. 　In our Bible Reading today, Jesus and His disciples were in a boat on the lake. A storm came up and the waves covered the boat. Jesus’ disciples became very afraid. Jesus said, “Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith” (verse 26). Then Jesus calmed the wind and the storm. 　Maybe you will be afraid today. Remember that God is with you. Let Him comfort you and give you His peace. —CP “The Spirit God gave us does not make us afraid. 今天，我們活在一個非常忙碌的世界中，我們總是從一個地方趕去另一個地方，很多人就忘記要花一些時間安靜下來並且專注於上帝。 　今天經文的第2節中，作者說：「…我的心平穩安靜，好像斷過奶的孩子在他母親的懷中。」這是一個美麗的畫面，讓我們知道該如何與上帝相處。我們應該以身為祂的孩子為滿足，並且知道祂會照顧我們。 　新約聖經告訴我們，耶穌常常到一個安靜的地方禱告，並且跟上帝說話。當耶穌需要做重要的決定，或是面對極大的問題時，祂尤其會這麼做。 　上帝想要我們跟祂說話，並且專注於祂的話語──聖經，而這時候，也是我們能從上帝那裏學到最多的時候。今天，你要從忙碌的行程中脫身出來，然後花一些時間安靜地與上帝同在。—NW 「因為來來往往的人太多，耶穌和門徒連吃飯的時間也沒有，所以耶穌對他們說：『你們來，跟我私下到偏僻的地方去休息一會兒。』」 馬可福音6:31a 禱告：主，今天我願花一些時間與祢同在。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (SDL譯/台南聖教會英語團契)

Quiet Time

Today we live in a very busy world. We are always hurrying from one place to another. Many people forget to take time to be quiet and pay attention to God. 　In verse 2 of our Bible Reading, the writer says, “...right now I am calm and quiet, like a child after nursing, content in its mother’s arms.” That is a beautiful picture of how we should be with God. We should be satisfied to be His child and know that He will take care of us. 　The New Testament tells us that often Jesus went to a quiet place. He prayed and talked to God. Jesus especially did this when He needed to make an important decision or when He was facing a big problem. 　God wants us to talk to Him and pay attention to His Word, the Bible. That’s when we can learn the most from God. Get out of your busy schedule today and spend some quiet time with God. —NW “Jesus and his followers were in a very busy place. 「平安」(peace)是聖靈賜下的第三樣東西，但什麼是「平安」呢？也許是一個無力的母親對著吵翻天的孩子說，她需要一個「平靜」的房子；或者是世界各國領袖聚在一起討論「和平」。在這些例子裡，「平安」代表著「沒有衝突」。 然而，今天的經文中，耶穌談到一個不一樣的「平安」。耶穌說的平安是內心平靜快樂並有安全感，就算我們旁邊的人正在打架，我們仍然擁有這樣的平安。當我們屬於耶穌並且知道祂將會再來，這樣的平安就在我們裡面了。 今天的經文裡，耶穌在被殺之前，正與門徒們見面。耶穌知道祂將會死，祂希望門徒們能感受到祂的愛與平安。 耶穌希望你也擁有這樣的平安，只要跟隨祂並順服祂，你將擁有祂所賜下永遠的平安。其他人看見你生命中有這樣的平安，他們也會想要跟隨耶穌。—JK 「我留下平安給你們，我把我的平安賜給你們。我所給你們的，跟世人所給的不同。你們心裏不要愁煩，也不要害怕。」約翰福音14:27 禱告：上帝，感謝祢藉著耶穌賜下平安。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (葉佳楠譯/台南聖教會英語團契)

Peace is the third thing the Spirit gives. But what does peace mean? Maybe a frustrated mother tells her noisy children that she wants peace in the house. Or world leaders get together and talk about peace. The peace in these examples means “no fighting.” But in our Bible Reading, Jesus talked about a different kind of peace. This peace is an inner feeling of comfort and safety. Even if people around us are fighting, we can still have this kind of peace. This peace happens when we belong to Jesus and know that He will come again someday. In our verses, Jesus was meeting with His disciples right before He was killed. Jesus knew that He would die, and He wanted His followers to feel His love and peace. Jesus wants you to have this peace, too. Follow and obey Him. Then you will have His eternal peace. And other people will see this peace in your life and want to follow Jesus, too. —JK “I leave you my peace. It is my own peace I give you. I give you peace in a different way than the world does.
