God Can Use You
Bible Reading: Judges 6:11-16
Wednesday, May 27, 2015

God Can Use You Our Bible verses today tell us about Gideon. God’s angel told Gideon that He wanted Gideon to help defeat the Midianite army. Gideon answered, “How can I save Israel? My family group is the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh, and I am the youngest one in my family” (verse 15b).
Even though Gideon thought he was weak, God knew his heart and his willingness to obey. God told Gideon, “I will be with you, so you can defeat the Midianites as easily as if they were only one man” (verse 16).
Because God is so powerful, He is able to use even the weakest person to do His work. Many important Bible people had weaknesses — Moses, King David, Paul and many others. But God knew these people had faith, and He did great things through them.
God can use you, too. Keep trusting Him, and He will show you the great things you can do for Him. —JP*
“I don’t have enough time to tell you about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets. All of them had great faith. And with that faith they defeated kingdoms.” Hebrews 11:32b-33a
PRAYER: Lord, I will always trust You and obey You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God’s Servant
Bible Reading: Judges 6:11-24
Monday, June 16, 2014

God’s Servant In our Bible Reading today, we learn about Gideon. God chose him to be a leader of the Israelites.
But Gideon was not sure that he would be a good leader. He asked the angel of the Lord, “How can I save Israel? My family group is the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh, and I am the youngest one in my family” (verse 15b). Gideon even asked God two times to give him proof that He would be with him.
Finally, Gideon decided to serve God, and he faithfully led the Israelite army to defeat the Midianites. Gideon is even mentioned in Hebrews, chapter 11, as a man of faith. Sometimes I feel like Gideon. I am quiet and shy. I do not think that God can use me to be His servant. But God can make even the weakest person successful.
The Bible tells us about many people who served God even though they thought they were not good enough to be God’s servant. God has used me, and He can use you, too. Submit to Him and become His servant today! —DB*
“...with that faith they defeated kingdoms. They did what was right, and God helped them in the ways he promised.” Hebrews 11:33b
PRAYER: Dear God, use me to be Your servant. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Jesus (3)
Bible Reading: Matthew 28:5-7
Friday, April 4, 2014

Jesus (3) When Jesus lived on earth, He treated men and women the same. Jesus believed that both men and women were important and valuable people.
In the New Testament, we can read that Jesus healed women, had conversations with them, ate with them and fellowshiped with them. Our Bible Reading today tells us that women were the first people to learn about Jesus’ resurrection.
Verses 5-6a say, “The angel said to the women, ‘Don’t be afraid. I know you are looking for Jesus, the one who was killed on the cross. But he is not here. He has risen from death, as he said he would.’” In verse 7, the angel told the women to tell other people that Jesus had risen. The angel gave the women the important responsibility of sharing the news about Jesus’ resurrection.
God’s plan of salvation is for both men and woman. And He can use all people to spread the Good News about Jesus. —GT
“So God created humans in his own image. He created them to be like himself. He created them male and female.” Genesis 1:27
PRAYER: God, thank You for making me. Help me to become more like You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Impossible Things
Bible Reading: Luke 18:26-30
Sunday, February 23, 2014

Impossible Things Yesterday we talked about Jairus’ daughter. The people in the room with the little girl thought that it was impossible for her to be alive again. But Jesus raised her from the dead!
The Bible is full of things that people thought were impossible. Abraham and Sarah did not think it was possible for them to have a child, but their son, Isaac, was born when Abraham was 100 years old. Gideon and the Israelite army did not think it was possible to defeat the Midianites, but God made it happen.
In our Bible Reading today, Jesus told his followers, “God can do things that are not possible for people to do” (verse 27b). Many people think that it is impossible for one man to die and accept the punishment for billions of people. But Jesus did that when He died on the cross.
Let God use you in His kingdom today. He can do great things through you! —SH*
[God said,] “I am the Lord. I am the God of every person on the earth. You know that nothing is impossible for me.” Jeremiah 32:27b
PRAYER: God, You are awesome! Use me to serve You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

—RG

God Can Use You
Bible Reading: Acts 9:1-19
Friday, February 8, 2013

God Can Use You Recently I stopped my car at a red light, and a beat-up old pickup stopped beside me. The man driving the pickup lowered his window, so I lowered mine, too. I could see that this middle-aged man had a pony-tail, some body piercings and tattoos.
The man said to me, “Sir, do you believe that God speaks to people today?” I told him that I did. Then he said, “When I saw you, God told me that you are a Christian.” We talked for a few seconds about how God knows all about us and communicates with us. Then the light changed to green, and we drove off.
That was a wonderful experience for me! God used that man to remind me that He chooses all kinds of people to serve Him. Our Bible Reading for today tells us that God chose Saul, who hated Christians, to be the person to spread the Gospel to Gentiles.
God can use all people to serve and honor Him. Look for ways that He can use you today. —RG
“I have chosen Saul for an important work. I want him to tell other nations...about me.” Acts 9:15b
PRAYER: Dear Lord, please use me today to serve You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Gift for God
Bible Reading: Psalm 24:1-10
Sunday, December 9, 2012

A Gift for God God wants you to give Him a gift this Christmas. What do you have that God wants? Your money? Yes. Your skills? Yes. Your mind? Yes. Your time? Yes. Your whole life? Yes!
God wants every part of you and me. He wants us to give our lives to Him. Why should we give God everything in our lives? Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth and everything on it belong to the Lord. The world and all its people belong to him.” Everything we have, including our own lives, already belongs to God.
When we give God our possessions and our lives, we are saying that we want to be His humble servants. We are telling God that we trust Him to do what is best for us. We are also saying that we want God to use us to help the church grow.
When we give our lives to God, we say, “Thank You, God, for all You have given to us.” That’s the greatest Christmas gift you can ever give to God! —GT
“The sacrifice that God wants is a humble spirit. God, you will not turn away a person who comes with a humble, submissive heart.” Psalm 51:17
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the things and talents You have given me. I want to use them for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

—ECW

Naaman
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 5:1-19
Monday, August 27, 2012

Naaman Naaman was the captain of the army of the king of Aram. One time his army fought with Israel. The soldiers took some Israelites to be slaves. One little girl was taken and given to Naaman’s wife as a servant.
Our Bible Reading tells us that Naaman had a problem — he had leprosy (a terrible skin disease). The little girl said, “I wish that my master (Naaman) would meet the prophet (Elisha) who lives in Samaria. That prophet could heal Naaman of his leprosy” (verse 3b).
So Naaman went to see Elisha. Elisha told Naaman to go and wash in the Jordan River seven times. Naaman did this, and he was healed. Naaman also started believing in the one true God.
God used a little girl to show Naaman how he could be healed. God can use us, too, to lead people to Him. Look for opportunities to share the Good News about Jesus with someone you meet today! —ECW

“Look, I now know there is no God in all the earth except in Israel! I will never again offer any burnt offering or sacrifice to any other gods. I will offer sacrifices only to the Lord!”2 Kings 5:15b, 17b

PRAYER: God, please use me today to bring someone closer to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
