Moving (1)
Bible Reading: Matthew 28:16-20
Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Moving (1) Recently my husband and I sold our acreage and bought a house in a small town. Through this moving experience, God taught me some very important lessons that I want to share with you.
We asked our friend, Norma, to help us. She is a very skilled real estate agent and a wonderful Christian woman. Norma worked with us for about 6 months, helping us sell our house and find another one. As we worked with her, I noticed that she is not afraid to show that she is a Christian. People knew that Norma is a Christian by the way she acted and the things she said.
In our Bible verses today, Jesus told His followers to “go and make followers of all people in the world” (verse 19a). This means that wherever we go — to work, to school, to the grocery store — we should share God’s love and His message about Jesus with other people.
Obey Jesus’ command today. Show other people that you love and serve God. —JK
“Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do.” Matthew 28:19b
PRAYER: Dear God, I want to show other people that I am a Christian. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Travel Light
Bible Reading: Matthew 11:25-30
Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Travel Light When taking a trip, it is best to travel light — to not take along too much luggage. If you have too much luggage, you will get tired of carrying it and your trip will not be enjoyable.
As we go through life, we face difficult times and have problems. These problems are like carrying around a lot of heavy luggage. We become tired of living and do not enjoy life.
But in our Bible Reading today, Jesus gives us hope and comfort. “Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest” (verse 28). Jesus wants to help us with our problems. But we need to be willing to share our troubles with Him and let Him lead us.
When we give our problems to Jesus, He will help us and encourage us. Think about your life. Are you carrying around a burden of sin and problems? Let Jesus help you. —DB
“Accept my teaching. Learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest.” Matthew 11:29
PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for Jesus. Help me to give my troubles and burdens to Him. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

—DJH*

Noah Had Faith
Bible Reading: Genesis 6:9-7:7
Monday, September 28, 2015

Noah Had Faith At the time Noah lived, people had become very bad. God was sorry that He had made these people. So God decided to destroy these wicked people with a flood.
But our Bible Reading tells us that Noah “was a good man all his life, and he always followed God” (verse 9). Because Noah was good, God said He would save Noah and his family. God told Noah to build a boat to save him and his family from the flood.
Noah had faith in God. He did what God told him to do. Noah built the boat exactly as God had told him to do. The boat saved Noah, his family and many animals from the flood. We need to have faith in God, too. If we do, we will accept God’s gift of salvation through Jesus. God sent Jesus to die and accept the punishment for our sins.
I hope you have faith in God and that you are following and obeying Him every day. —DJH*
“And God punished the evil people who lived long ago. He brought a flood to the world that was full of people who were against God. But he saved Noah and seven other people with him.” 2 Peter 2:5a
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank You that Jesus died for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Sin
Bible Reading: Romans 6:15-23
Sunday, September 27, 2015

Sin What is sin? Sin is doing wrong things and disobeying God. Many people today don't care about God and His Word. These people say that there is no sin.
The book of Romans talks a lot about sin. Romans 3:23 says, “All have sinned and are not good enough to share God's divine greatness.” This means that all people have disobeyed God. And when we disobey God, we are separated from Him. Verse 16b of our Bible Reading tells us, “Following sin brings spiritual death, but obeying God makes you right with him.”
If you do not know about sin, I encourage you to read the Bible and learn what God wants you to do. If you are already a Christian, I encourage you to continue reading and studying the Bible. That will help you resist the devil and grow in Jesus.
Sin brings eternal separation from God. Obeying God brings eternal life with Him. I hope you choose to obey and follow God. —PN*
“But now you are free from sin. You have become slaves of God, and the result is that you live only for God. This will bring you eternal life.” Romans 6:22
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for forgiving my sins. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Sea of Galilee (5)
Bible Reading: John 21:1-14
Saturday, September 26, 2015

Sea of Galilee (5) Today we read more about Peter and the other disciples. Jesus had died and risen from the dead. Jesus was by the Sea of Galilee. Several of Jesus’ followers were in a boat. They had fished all night but had not caught any fish.
Jesus said to them (verse 6b), “Throw your net into the water on the right side of your boat. You will find some fish there.” Jesus’ followers obeyed Him. They caught so many fish that they couldn’t pull the net into the boat!
Verse 14 says, “This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his followers after he was raised from death.” Jesus wanted His followers to know for sure that He had risen from the dead. Why? Because Jesus wanted them to know that He has power over death. That means Christians will also live again after they die.
Do you want to live forever? I do! But I don’t want to live forever in a world full of sin. I want to live forever with God and Jesus. That will be wonderful! —JK
“But God gives his people a free gift — eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23b
PRAYER: Dear Father, thank You for the promise of living forever with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

-JK

Sea of Galilee (4)
Bible Reading: Matthew 14:22-32
Friday, September 25, 2015

Sea of Galilee (4) Our Bible Reading today tells us about another time that Jesus’ followers were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. It was late at night, and the wind was blowing. Verse 25 says, “Between three and six o’clock in the morning, Jesus’ followers were still in the boat. Jesus came to them. He was walking on the water.” Wow!
Peter was in the boat. He wanted to walk to Jesus on the water. But when Peter noticed the wind and waves, he started to sink. Jesus caught Peter with His hand. Jesus and Peter got into the boat, and the wind stopped blowing.
Verse 33 says, “Then the followers in the boat worshiped Jesus and said, ‘You really are the Son of God.’” Jesus’ followers saw what He did, and they believed that He was God’s Son.
We can read in the Bible about the wonderful things Jesus did while He was on earth. These things help us know for sure that He is God’s Son. I hope you know that Jesus is truly the Son of God. —JK
“Then Jesus said to his followers, ‘And who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’” Matthew 16:15-16

Sea of Galilee (3)
Bible Reading: Matthew 8:23-27
Thursday, September 24, 2015

Sea of Galilee (3) Our Bible verses today tell us that Jesus and His followers were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. While they were on the lake, a very bad storm came up.
When the storm happened, Jesus was asleep in the boat. Jesus’ followers were afraid, so they awoke Jesus. In verse 25b they said, “Lord, save us! We will drown!” Jesus stood up and told the wind and waves to stop. “The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm” (verse 26b).
We may face “storms” in our lives. These storms may be sickness, financial problems, divorce or challenges in our jobs. If we try to face these problems alone, we may feel scared — just like Jesus’ followers in the boat. We need God to help us with our problems.
What are you facing today? Are you lonely or discouraged? You can depend on God to help you through these problems. He is wise and knows what is best for you. —JK
“God has said, ‘I will never leave you; I will never run away from you.’ So we can feel sure and say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.’” Hebrews 13:5b-6a
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for being wise and always knowing what is best for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

-JK

Sea of Galilee (2)
Bible Reading: Matthew 4:18-22
Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Sea of Galilee (2) Today’s Bible Reading tells us that Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee and saw two brothers, Andrew and Peter. They were fishermen. Jesus said to them (verse 19b), “Come, follow me, and I will make you a different kind of fishermen. You will bring in people, not fish.” The next verse tells us that Peter and Andrew left their fishing nets and followed Jesus.
Then Jesus saw two other brothers, James and John. They were fishermen, too. Jesus asked them to follow Him, and they did. “So they immediately left the boat and their father, and they followed Jesus” (verse 22).
Peter, Andrew, James and John were the first of the 12 disciples that Jesus chose. These 12 men followed Jesus and learned from Him for about three years. They gave up their jobs so they could be with Jesus.
Sometime God may ask you to give up something so you can follow Him. I hope you are willing to give up everything to serve and obey God. —JK

Sea of Galilee (1)
Bible Reading: Numbers 34:1-12
Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Sea of Galilee (1) Today and for the next few days we will talk about the Sea of Galilee, located in Israel. This sea is about the size of a lake — 13 miles long and 7 miles wide. The Sea of Galilee is from 80 feet to 200 feet deep.
The Sea of Galilee is called by several different names. In the Old Testament it is sometimes called Lake Kinneret. In the New Testament it is also called the Sea of Tiberias and Lake Gennesaret.
In our Bible Reading today, God told Moses the boundaries of the land of Canaan. This was the land that God had promised to give to His people, the Israelites. Verse 11a says, “From Shepham the border will go east of Ain to Riblah. The border will continue along the hills by Lake Galilee.”
Both the Old and New Testaments talk about the Sea of Galilee. And the Sea of Galilee still exists today. These facts help us to know that the Bible is true. Read the Bible today. You can depend on it to be true. —JK

King Jesus
Bible Reading: Mark 4:13-20
Monday, September 21, 2015

King Jesus I know some Christians who never grow spiritually. They come to church every week, but they do not mature. Why does this happen?
Our Bible Reading today helps us understand about growing as a Christian. In these verses, Jesus explained His story about the seeds. Jesus was talking about God’s teaching, and He explained that some people receive God’s teaching and grow. Other people receive it but do not grow.
Some people accept Jesus as their Savior, but they do not allow Him to be King over their lives. If Jesus is truly our King, we will obey Him and yield to His will every day. We will always choose Jesus’ way instead of our own way.
Is Jesus the King of your life? Are you growing and learning more about Him every day? Hold onto Jesus. He will never let you down. —SH*
