The Squirrel
Bible Reading: Luke 10:25-37
Sunday, January 13, 2013

The Squirrel I enjoy watching blue jays, wrens, woodpeckers and other kinds of birds in my front yard. But recently I was annoyed that some squirrels came into the area and stole the birds’ food. I started looking for ways to get the squirrels out of my yard.
Then one day I saw a cat attack a squirrel in my yard. I ran out the door and chased the cat away. The squirrel was laying on its back, panting hard. I felt sorry for it. I didn’t know exactly what to say, but I quickly asked God to help the squirrel. Immediately the squirrel calmed down, got up and darted away. Since then I have set up separate feeders for birds and squirrels.
This experience made me think about how we sometimes treat other people unfairly. Our Bible Reading today is about loving people, even if they are different from us. Ask God to help you treat people the way you want to be treated. —RW*
