—ECW

Good Advice
Bible Reading: Psalm 49:1-20
Saturday, November 17, 2012

Good Advice Today’s psalm begins by giving some good advice. This advice is for all people — poor people and rich people. The writer says that he will share “some very wise and intelligent things” (verse 3).
The writer says several things about rich people: 1) Rich people think their wealth will protect them (verse 6). 2) No person has enough money to buy the right to live forever (verse 9). 3) Rich people “won’t take a thing with them when they die” (verse 17).
What is the good advice in this psalm? First, we should not be afraid of people because they have a lot of money or big fancy houses (verse 16). Second, we should only depend on God for our salvation and eternal life (verse 15).
I hope that you will follow this good advice today. Don’t worry about money and possessions. Focus on loving God and serving Him. —ECW
“But God will pay the price and save my life. He will save me from the power of the grave when he takes me to be with him.” Psalm 49:15
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want to trust You and live for You each day. Help me to love and serve You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
