Bible Reading: Psalm 149:1-9
Saturday, November 10, 2012

Psalms Music (6) The Israelites also had instruments that would beat out the rhythm of a song. Verse 3 of our Bible Reading mentions a tambourine. This was a small drum made of wood and skins. Most of the time, women played tambourines. They were used for dances and to celebrate good times.
Some of the most important instruments used in temple worship were the cymbals. Psalm 150:5 says, “Praise God with loud cymbals! Praise him with clashing cymbals!” Clashing cymbals were large and played with one on each hand. The resounding cymbals were much smaller and were worn on the thumb and middle fingers.
All of the instruments and musicians were important to the temple music. In the same way, each of us is important to the church. Some Christians are teachers or singers, while others work in the nursery or visit sick people. Every job in the church is important.
Praise God today for what you can do for His kingdom. —DF
“Praise the Lord. Sing a new song about the new things the Lord has done!” Psalm 149:1a
PRAYER: God, I am happy to serve in Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
