Thanksgiving (1)
Bible Reading: Psalm 25:8-15
Sunday, November 18, 2012

Thanksgiving (1) Soon people in America will celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Today and for the next few days, we will look at some verses from Psalms and apply them to this time of giving thanks.
Most people in America have plenty of food to eat. And often on Thanksgiving Day, we have much more food than we need. We are tempted to eat one more helping of potatoes or one more piece of pie. We know that it is not good for our bodies to overeat. But it is hard for us to resist the temptation to eat more.
Verses 8-10 of our Bible Reading tell us about God. Verse 8b says, “He teaches sinners the right way to live.” Verse 9 continues, “He teaches humble people his ways. He leads them with fairness.” God will help us resist temptation. With His help, we can say “No!” when we want to do something that might hurt us.
Today you will be tempted to sin. Ask God to help you be strong and resist the temptation. —GT
“I am always looking to the Lord for help. He always frees me from my troubles.” Psalm 25:15
PRAYER: Father, I want to honor You with my life. Help me to resist temptation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
