Lord’s Supper
Bible Reading: Matthew 26:26-30
Sunday, September 8, 2013

Lord’s Supper Our Bible Reading today tells us about the time Jesus shared a meal with His followers. This was a special meal during the Jewish celebration of Passover.
During this meal, Jesus talked about two things: bread and wine. Jesus said about the bread, “It is my body” (verse 26b). And He said about the wine, “This wine is my blood, which will be poured out to forgive the sins of many” (verse 28a). Jesus was talking about His death on the cross.
Christians should meet together to share the Lord’s Supper so they can remember Jesus’ death. 1 Corinthians 11:26 gives us another reason to eat the Lord’s Supper. “This means that every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are telling others about the Lord’s death until he comes again.”
It is important for us to eat the Lord’s Supper. When we do, we honor Jesus and share the Good News about Him with others. —DB*
“This bread is my body that I am giving for you. This wine represents the new agreement from God to his people. It will begin when my blood is poured out for you.” Luke 22:19b, 20b
PRAYER: Father, thank You for giving me a way to remember what Jesus did for me. In His name. Amen.
