Bible Reading: Esther 3:1-6
Saturday, June 6, 2015

Esther (1) The Old Testament book of Esther tells us about Queen Esther and how she saved the Jews. Today and for the next two days, we will look at some lessons we can learn from this book.
Our Bible verses today tell us about Mordecai, Esther’s cousin. Mordecai was a man who loved and served God. The king said that all the people had to bow down and honor an evil man named Haman. But Mordecai “refused to obey the command to bow down to Haman” (verse 4b). Mordecai knew that he should only worship God.
Mordecai obeyed God and stood for what was right. God used Mordecai as an example for other Jews to follow. We should be like Mordecai and not be afraid to stand up for what is right. We should never do something that God says is wrong.
Read the Bible every day so that you will know what is right and how you can follow God. —MS
“These are the things God told his people: ‘I am the Lord your God. I am the one who freed you from the land of Egypt, where you were slaves. You must not worship any other gods except me.’” Exodus 20:1-2
PRAYER: God, I want to always stand up for what is right. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
