Zacchaeus
Bible Reading: Luke 19:1-10
Wednesday, February 6, 2013
Our Bible Reading today tells us about Zacchaeus. He was a Jew, but he collected taxes for the Roman government. Most Jewish tax collectors were dishonest. They collected taxes and kept some of the money for themselves. As a Jew, Zacchaeus would have learned God’s law. He knew it was wrong to be dishonest. One day Jesus came to Zacchaeus’ town. Zacchaeus told Jesus, “I want to do good. I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times more” (verse 8). Zacchaeus repented. He changed from being dishonest to being honest. Once I was involved in using and selling drugs. I was dishonest, like Zacchaeus. My life was messed up, and I lost everything. Finally, I decided to change my heart and follow Jesus as my Lord and Savior. What about you? Do you need to ask God to forgive your sins? Turn to Him today. He loves you and will forgive your sins. —DG* “Today is the day for this family to be saved from sin...The Son of Man came to find lost people and save them.” Luke 19:9b-10
PRAYER: God, thank You for forgiveness through Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
