Be Like God
Bible Reading: Matthew 5:43-48
Monday, June 9, 2014

Be Like God Pablo Casals was a man who played the cello. Some people think that he was the greatest cellist who ever lived.
When Casals was 95 years old, someone asked him why he still practiced six hours a day. He replied, “Because I think I am making progress.” Casals knew that if he was to be a great musician, he had to continue learning and working toward his goal of being perfect.
Verse 48 of our Bible Reading says, “...you must be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” This means that our goal in life is to be like God. If we want to be like God, we need to read His Word and think about it. And we need to learn about God’s love, patience and righteousness.
Whether you are a new Christian or someone who is spiritually mature, don’t stop making progress. Keep on studying and praying and working toward the goal of being like God. —BL
“But I tell you, love your enemies. Pray for those who treat you badly. If you do this, you will be children who are truly like your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:44-45a
PRAYER: God, I want to be like You. Help me to continue loving and serving You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
