今天讀的經節經常出現在婚禮中，這些經文提醒新娘和新郎應該如何彼此相愛。但是這些經節中，保羅談的不是夫妻之間的愛，保羅談的是基督徒對人應有的愛。「愛是恆久忍耐」的意思是，如果我們愛人，就不會輕易對人生氣。愛是「恩慈」指的是，我們希望別人怎麼對待我們，我們就用相同的方式待人，我們不應該說傷人的話或用不好的態度待人，我們應該幫助別人而不求回報。 「凡事包容」是指，就算別人犯罪或做錯事，我們仍然用愛對待他們。「凡事相信，凡事盼望，凡事忍耐」的意思是，我們要看別人的好處。 哥林多前書13:8a提醒我們「愛是永不止息」，我們應該用上帝愛我們的方式去愛人。祂是這麼愛我們，甚至差派祂的兒子來為我們受死！ —MK 「憎恨引起爭端；愛能掩蓋一切過錯。」 箴言10:12

What Love Is

The verses in our Bible reading today are often read at weddings. These verses remind the bride and groom how they should love each other. But in these verses, Paul did not talk about the love a married couple should have. Paul talked about the love Christians should have for other people. “Love is patient” means that when we love people, we do not quickly become upset with them. “Love is kind” means we treat other people the way we want people to treat us. We should not say hurtful things or have a bad attitude. We should help people without wanting a reward. “Love never gives up on people” means we show love to people even when they sin and make mistakes. “It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits” means that we think good things about other people. 1 Corinthians 13:8a reminds us that “love will never end.” We should love other people the same way that God loves us. He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us!—MK “Hate causes arguments. But love overlooks all wrongs.” Proverbs 10:12
PRAYER: Father, show me how I can love people the way You love me. In Jesus' name. Amen. |
