Do Your Best
Bible Reading: Jeremiah 29:4-7
Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Do Your Best The company I work for decided to close my department and transfer me to another group. I liked my job and did not want to move to another job. I had two choices: I could have a bad attitude and complain. Or, I could accept my new job and do my best.
In our Bible Reading, the people of Israel had similar choices. They were forced out of their homes and sent to another land. They could choose to have a bad attitude and complain. Or, they could choose to do their best in the foreign land.
Verse 5 tells us what God told them to do. “Build houses and live in them. Settle in the land. Plant gardens and eat the food you grow. Also, do good things for the city I sent you to. Pray to the Lord for the city you are living in”(verses 5 and 7a).
We all face situations that we do not like. It is easy to complain and feel sorry for ourselves. Instead, we should work hard and do our best to serve God and the people around us. —BL
“This message is from the Lord. ‘I have good plans for you. I don’t plan to hurt you. I plan to give you hope and a good future.’” Jeremiah 29:11b
PRAYER: Dear God, help me to serve You wherever I am today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
