1 Thessalonians (8)
Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-18
Saturday, September 20, 2014

1 Thessalonians (8) I was talking to a friend who was having a hard time. Her husband had lost his job. They needed to find a different place to live, but they didn’t have much money. My friend said, “I know many other people are having a difficult time, too. I don’t know how people live without the Lord.”
In these last verses of 1 Thessalonians, Paul gave some final instructions for living during hard times. When things are difficult, we often become frustrated and angry. But Paul’s advice is to “always try to do what is good for each other and for all people” (verse 15b). Don’t become angry or frustrated. Instead, think about the good things that you can do.
When we are busy helping other people and thanking God for His goodness, we have less time to feel upset. When we pray to God, He helps us remember our hope in the resurrection and in Jesus’ coming. —KR
“We pray that God himself, the God of peace, will make you pure — belonging only to him. We pray that your whole self — spirit, soul, and body — will be kept safe and be blameless when our Lord Jesus comes.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23
PRAYER: Dear God, I want to trust You and not be afraid. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
