提摩太是跟保羅一起旅行的另一個年輕人，如同提多，保羅稱提摩太是「我在信仰上的真兒子」（提摩太前書1:2）。 　今天的經文跟我們談到提摩太的背景。他的父親是希臘人，母親則是猶太人。提摩太的母親友妮基和她的祖母羅綺教導他如何信靠上帝。 　在帖撒羅尼迦前書3:1b-2，保羅跟我們談到更多提摩太的事：「派我們的弟兄提摩太到你們那裏去；他是我們為上帝傳揚基督福音的同工。我們派他去的目的是要堅固和幫助你們的信心。」因著提摩太對上帝的信心，他成為一個堅強的基督徒。這樣的信心是藉由他母親和祖母對他的教導而得著的，這也提醒我們應該教導兒女認識上帝。 　請教導你的兒女、孫兒女，以及附近的孩子認識上帝，讓他們看見上帝的愛和祂的話語。 —JK 「提摩太啊，你要好好地持守你所接受的託付。」 提摩太前書6:20a 禱告：上帝，謝謝祢在我的生命中賜下兒女，求祢在我教導他們認識祢時與我同在。奉主耶穌的名，阿們！ (尤理權譯)

Timothy was another young man who traveled with Paul. Like Titus, Paul called Timothy “a true son to me in the faith we share” (1 Timothy 1:2). 　Our Bible verses tell us about Timothy’s background. His father was Greek, and his mother was a Jew. Timothy’s mother, Eunice, and grandmother, Lois, taught him how to have faith in God. 　In 1 Thessalonians 3:1b-2 Paul tells us more about Timothy. “Timothy is our brother. He works with us for God to tell people the Good News about Christ. We sent Timothy to strengthen and encourage you in your faith.” Timothy became a strong Christian because of his faith in God. That faith was taught to him by his mother and grandmother. This should be a reminder to us that we should teach children about God. 　Teach your children and grandchildren and the children in your neighborhood about God.
