單單敬拜上帝

上帝賜給祂的子民以色列人特別的律法，在申命記6:13-14，祂吩咐他們： 「你們要敬畏上主─你們的上帝，只敬奉他，奉他的名發誓。不可拜周圍各國的任何神明。」
但是以色列人忘記了上帝的話，他們開始膜拜偶像，很多年後，先知以利亞在一場競賽中挑戰假神的先知，今天閱讀的經文跟我們談到這場比賽，以及所發生的事。 假神的先知求他們的神燒掉祭壇上的公牛，但是什麼事也沒發生！接著以利亞向上帝禱告，「於是，上主降火，燒了祭牲、柴，並燒焦了石頭和地面」（第38a節）。上帝向所有人顯明祂真的是唯一我們要敬拜的神。

今天我們有一個敬拜上帝的機會，我們不一定要在教堂裡，我們可以在任何地方敬拜祂！當你敬拜祂時就蒙上帝的喜悅。 —JR*

Worship Only God
Bible Reading: 1 Kings 18:20-39

God gave special laws to His people, the Israelites. In Deuteronomy 6:13-14a, He told them, “Respect the Lord your God and serve only him. You must use only his name to make promises. You must not follow other gods.”
But the Israelites forgot about God. They started worshiping false idols. Many years later, the prophet Elijah challenged the prophets of a false god to a contest. Our Bible Reading today tells us about this contest and what happened.
The false prophets asked their god to burn up a bull on an altar. But nothing happened! Then Elijah prayed to God. “Then fire came down from the Lord and burned the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, and the ground around the altar” (verse 38a). God showed all the people that He is truly the only God to worship.

Today we have an opportunity to worship God. We don't have to be in a church building. We can worship Him anywhere! God will be pleased when you worship Him. —JR*
