Bible Reading: Matthew 13:1-9
Friday, July 3, 2015

Fresh Vegetables Every summer my husband plants a vegetable garden. Some years our garden produces lots of vegetables, but during a dry, cool summer our garden does not do as well.
In our Bible verses, Jesus told a story about a farmer who planted some seeds. Just like my garden, sometimes the seeds grew well and other times they didn’t. But in Jesus’ story, some seeds grew well because they were planted in good ground.
Later in chapter 13, Jesus explained about the good ground. “But what about the seed that fell on the good ground? That is like the people who hear the teaching and understand it” (Matthew 13:23a). We should be like the good ground in Jesus’ story. We need to read the Bible every day and apply God’s teaching to our lives. Then we will grow in our faith and share the Good News about Jesus with more people.
I hope you are like the good ground. Pay attention to God’s Word and share it with others. —JK
“But some of the seed fell on good ground...There it grew and made grain. You people who hear me, listen!” Matthew 13:8-9
PRAYER: Father, I want to pay attention to Your Word and share it with other people today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
