耶穌接著被帶到羅馬總督府裡，那時的羅馬總督是彼拉多。時間仍然是清晨時分。彼拉多也許就像其他羅馬人一樣，他看不起猶太人，不想跟他們扯上任何關係，但是彼拉多仍然跟耶穌說話。耶穌告訴彼拉多（第37b節），「我是王，這是你說的。我的使命是為真理作證，我為此而生，也為此來到世上。凡是屬於真理的人一定聽我的話。」 路加福音23:5-7告訴我們，彼拉多打算叫另外一個人來審耶穌的案子。彼拉多是猶太地區的總督，耶穌則是來自加利利地區，那時加利利的統治者是希律。那一天，希律正在耶路撒冷，所以彼拉多就將耶穌送到他那裡。 那時的猶太人和羅馬人都不願意留心聆聽上帝的真理，他們甚至不想跟上帝的兒子來往。那麼今天的你呢？你已經準備好要留心聆聽上帝在聖經中的真理並且跟隨祂的兒子嗎？ －DF 「耶穌說：『我的國度不屬這世界；如果我的國度屬這世界，我的臣民一定為我爭戰，使我不至於落在猶太人手裡。』」 約翰福音18:36a

Jesus was next taken to the Roman governor’s palace. The Roman governor was Pilate. The time was still early in the morning. Pilate probably was like other Romans. He looked down on the Jews and didn’t want to have anything to do with them. But Pilate still talked with Jesus. Jesus told Pilate (verse 37b), “You are right to say that I am a king. I was born for this: to tell people about the truth. That is why I came into the world. And everyone who belongs to the truth listens to me.” Luke 23:5-7 tells us that Pilate had a plan to have someone else listen to Jesus’ case. Pilate was the governor over Judea. Jesus was from the area of Galilee. The ruler over Galilee was Herod. Herod was in Jerusalem that day, so Pilate sent Jesus to him. The Jews and the Romans were not willing to pay attention to God’s truth. And they didn’t even want to associate with God’s Son. What about you today? Are you ready to pay attention to God’s truth in the Bible and follow His Son? —DF “Jesus said, ‘My kingdom does not belong to this world. If it did, my servants would fight so that I would not be handed over to the Jewish leaders.’” John 18:36a
