Comfort Food
Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7
Wednesday, August 14, 2013
Many people have foods they eat or drink when they are sad or lonely. They may grab a candy bar or make a cup of tea. One of my favorite comfort foods is soup. When I am sick or have a problem, soup makes me feel better. But sometimes we need more than food to comfort us. God knows that we need to feel loved. He comforts us when we face troubles. Verse 4 of our Bible Reading says, “He comforts us every time we have trouble so that when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us.” Not only do we receive comfort from God, but we also can share that comfort with other people who are hurting. In this way, God uses our problems to help us grow as Christians. Maybe you are sad or lonely or facing problems today. Depend on God and His comfort to help you. —PD “We share in the many sufferings of Christ. In the same way, much comfort comes to us through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:5
PRAYER: Father, thank You for comforting me when I face hard times. Help me share Your comfort with other people today. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
