Bible Reading: Acts 2:14-47
Saturday, August 17, 2013
The verses in our Bible Reading today are exciting verses. They tell us about the start of the church. When I was a child, I was taught that the church is a building. But now I understand that the church is made up of Christians — people who love and follow Jesus. The first few verses of our Bible Reading are Peter’s sermon. He told the people about Jesus. Then Peter said that they should change their lives, be baptized and live for Jesus. The last few verses tell us some things that these Christians did. Many people believed in Jesus and were baptized that day. Verse 41b says, “On that day about 3000 people were added to the group of believers.” After that day, the believers met together. They shared their food and possessions. And they praised God for what He had done. I hope that you are part of God’s church. Thank Him and praise Him today for salvation through Jesus. —DB* “The believers praised God and were respected by all the people. More and more people were being saved every day, and the Lord was adding them to their group.” Acts 2:47
PRAYER: God, thank You for Jesus and that I can be a part of Your church. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
