Bible Reading: Acts 5:1-11
Tuesday, May 6, 2014
In today’s Bible Reading, Peter caught a man and his wife lying. Ananias had money from land he had sold, but he only gave part of the money to the apostles. He kept some of the money for himself. Peter caught Ananias and rebuked him for lying. Then Ananias died. Three hours later, Ananias’ wife, Sapphira, lied to Peter. Peter rebuked her, too, and she died. Both Ananias and Sapphira thought they could get away with lying. But they were wrong. People have said that “the truth about lies is that they always come back to haunt you.” If you tell a lie, it will come back to hurt you. That is what happened to Ananias and Sapphira. They both died after they lied! Be careful what you sign or say to others. Always tell the truth. Then you don’t have to worry that what you’ve signed or said will come back to hurt you. Also, when you tell the truth, others can trust you. —CPE* “The Lord hates people who tell lies, but he is pleased with those who tell the truth.” Proverbs 12:22
PRAYER: Dear God, I want to please You. Also, I want other people to trust me and what I sign or say to them. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
