Thank You, Momma!
Bible Reading: Proverbs 31:10-31
Sunday, May 10, 2015
When my two-year-old grandson asks his mother for something and receives it, he says, “Thank you, Momma!” These words make my daughter smile. Since the early 1900s in the United States, Mother’s Day has been celebrated on the second Sunday in May. Children of all ages show their mothers how important they are by giving cards, flowers and gifts. In this way, mothers know that they are a special part of their family. In our Bible Reading today, Solomon includes a long list of things that a woman can do for her husband and children. “She is worth far more than jewels” (verse 10b). He ends the chapter by saying that this woman deserves praise and a reward for what she has done. Today think about everything that your mother has done for you. And don’t forget to say, “Thank you, Momma!” —SAH “She speaks with wisdom and teaches others to be loving and kind. She oversees the care of her house. She is never lazy. Her children say good things about her. Her husband brags about her.” Proverbs 31:26-28a
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for our mothers. They are a gift from You. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
