Hebrews 10 (1)
Bible Reading: Hebrews 10:1-18
Thursday, October 9, 2014
The writer of the book of Hebrews wrote to Jews who had become Christians. Some of these Jews wanted to follow the teaching of the Old Testament instead of the teachings of Jesus and His followers. The author told these Jews to only follow Jesus. Then he talked about several things that Christians should do. For the next few days we will take a closer look at Hebrews, chapter 10. The Most Holy Place was the part of the Jewish temple where God lived. One day every year, the high priest went into the Most Holy Place to make a sacrifice for the sins of the people. When Jesus died, the curtain in front of the Most Holy Place was torn apart (Luke 23:45). This showed that Jesus had become the final sacrifice for sins. The priest didn’t need to make any more animal sacrifices for the people. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. Jesus died for you, too. If you are not a Christian, study the Bible and learn how you can follow Jesus. If you are already a Christian, thank God for Jesus’ great sacrifice. —JK “...we are made holy through the sacrifice of Christ’s body. Christ made that sacrifice one time — enough for all time.” Hebrews 10:10b
PRAYER: Father, thank You for Jesus. In His name. Amen. |
