Three Commands
Bible Reading: Leviticus 19:15-18
Wednesday, December 4, 2013
Verse 18 of our Bible Reading says, “Forget about the wrong things people do to you. Don’t try to get even. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.” These commands were for God’s people, the Israelites, but we should obey these commands, too. Let’s look at how we can obey the three commands in verse 18. How do we forget the wrong things people have done to us? We decide to let God punish these people in His way and His time. What should we do instead of trying to get even? We should forgive people who have hurt us. And after we have obeyed the first two commands, we will be able to obey the third command to love people as we love ourselves. This means that we will pray for them and want what is best for them. One verse and three commands. Ask God to help you obey them all. —GT “Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.’ If you continue hurting each other and tearing each other apart, be careful, or you will completely destroy each other.” Galatians 5:14b-15
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for helping me obey Your commands. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
