Being Right with God
Bible Reading: Galatians 5:1-6
Sunday, June 23 2013
Our Bible verses today are part of a letter that Paul wrote to Christians in Galatia. Some of these people said that Christians had to obey the Jewish laws. In this letter Paul tells them that they do not need to obey those laws. Paul says that their faith in God is most important. In verse 5, Paul says, “I say this because our hope of being right with God comes through faith. And the Spirit helps us feel sure as we wait for that hope.” The Jews in the Old Testament knew that when they obeyed God’s laws, they had a right relationship with Him. But as Christians, our right relationship comes through faith. When we have a right relationship with God, we look forward to eternal life with Him. While we are waiting for that, the Holy Spirit keeps reminding us about our salvation through Jesus. I hope that you want to have a right relationship with God. Remember that the “important thing is faith — the kind of faith that works through love” (verse 6b) —JK “If you try to be made right with God through the law, your life with Christ is finished — you have left God’s grace.” Galatians 5:4
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You that I can have a right relationship with You. In Jesus’ name. Amen. |
