當一對夫妻得知將要有小孩時，他們就會開始準備迎接孩子的出生，他們會預備好嬰兒的床和房間，父母也會查看名字列表，決定一個適合孩子的名字。有人會送他們尿布和嬰兒服，每個人都禱告求孩子平安出生。
上帝的使者來到馬利亞面前，告訴她將生下上帝的兒子。今天的經文閱讀跟我們談到，馬利亞去探訪她的表姐妹伊利莎白，為時三個月。伊利莎白當時也懷了身孕，我可以想像馬利亞和伊利莎白談了很多預備生小孩的事。今天讀的經文同時告訴我們馬利亞讚美上帝揀選她成為彌賽亞的母親。 在這個聖誕的節期中，我們應當停下腳步、讚美上帝差派祂的兒子來到世上，而且我們也應當感謝祂過去一年在我們生活中帶進很多祝福。 —BH

Praise for the Child

When a couple learns that they will have a baby, they begin to prepare for the baby to be born. They get the baby's bed and room ready. The parents look at lists of baby names to decide which name will be right for their child. People give them diapers and baby clothing. Everyone prays that the child will be born safely.
God's angel came to Mary and told her that she would give birth to God's Son. Our Bible verses today tell us that Mary went to visit her cousin, Elizabeth, for three months. Elizabeth was pregnant, too. I can imagine that Mary and Elizabeth talked a lot about preparations for their babies. Our verses also tell us that Mary praised God that He had chosen her to be the mother of the Messiah. During this Christmas season, we should stop and praise God for sending His Son to earth. And we should thank Him for all the blessings He has brought into our lives throughout the year. —BH
