From Trouble to Hope
Bible Reading: Romans 5:1-11
Thursday, September 11, 2014

From Trouble to Hope In our verses today, Paul was writing to Christians in the city of Rome. These Christians suffered many hard times.
In verse 3 Paul told the Roman Christians, “we are also happy with the troubles we have.” I wonder how Paul could be happy with the troubles he was facing. Paul continues, “Why are we happy with the troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient.”
In the next verse, Paul explains more. “And this patience is proof that we are strong. And this proof gives us hope.” So if we are patient when we face troubles and depend on God, we will show others the hope that we have in Jesus. After I face times of trouble, I look back and see how God helped me through that trouble. Because of this, I can remember the hope that I have been “made right with God by the blood sacrifice of Christ” (verse 9a).
Don’t focus on your troubles today. Instead, focus on the hope you have in Jesus. —BH
“You are God’s children, and you will receive everything he promised his children.” Galatians 4:7b
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the hope I have in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
