1 Thessalonians (6)
Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Thursday, September 18, 2014

1 Thessalonians (6) The believers in Thessalonica were worried about why Jesus didn’t come. They were afraid that the people who had died would miss something. In our Bible Reading, Paul told the people not to worry. “So we believe that God will raise to life through Jesus any who have died and bring them together with him when he comes” (verse 14b).
Then Paul talked a little bit about what will happen. Jesus will come down from heaven. There will be a loud command and a trumpet call. “And the people who have died and were in Christ will rise first” (verse 16b). The Christians who are still alive on earth will be taken up to meet Jesus in the air, too.
Because we believe and follow Jesus, we have hope. We know that just as Jesus was raised from the dead, we will be raised from the dead. We don’t have to be sad when a Christian dies. We don’t have to worry about our own death. We can trust God to take care of us. —KR
“It will only take the time of a second. We will be changed as quickly as an eye blinks...The trumpet will blow and those who have died will be raised to live forever.”1 Corinthians 15:52a
PRAYER: Thank You, God, that we can live forever with You. In Jesus’ name.
