今天的經節跟我們談到初代教會有一個問題。當時有些人說，如果一個人想要成為基督徒，他同時必須遵守猶太律法。我常常跟那些認為上帝的恩典不足以拯救我們的人交談。他們告訴我一定要穿某種衣服，或是讀一本特別的聖經，或是用奇特的方式跟上帝說話。但這卻不是今天的經文裡彼得所說的。 彼得告訴耶路撒冷的群眾，「……我們相信我們得救是藉著主耶穌的恩典，是跟他們一樣的」（第11節）。當我們在上帝的話語上額外再加一些東西時，這就好像給人背上沉重的負擔一樣。彼得說（第10a節）：「既然這樣，你們現在為甚麼要試探上帝，把我們的祖先和我們自己所挑不起的擔子，放在外邦門徒的肩膀上呢？」 上帝的救恩是透過祂的恩典送給我們的一個禮物，今天就感謝祂賜下這個禮物！—SH 「可見沒有人能靠遵守法律而得以跟上帝有合宜的關係；因為聖經上說：『因信而得以跟上帝有合宜關係的人將得生命。』」 加拉太書3:11

God’s Grace

Our Bible verses today tell us that there was a problem in the early church. Some people said that if a person wanted to be a Christian he had to also obey the Jewish laws. Often I talk with people who say that God’s grace is not enough to save me. They tell me that I have to wear a certain kind of clothes or read a special Bible or speak to God in a strange way. But that is not what Peter said in our Bible verses today. Peter told the group in Jerusalem, “...we believe that we and these people will be saved the same way — by the grace of our Lord Jesus” (verse 11). When we add something to God’s Word, it is like giving people a heavy burden to carry around. Peter said (verse 10a), “So now, why are you putting a heavy burden around the necks of non-Jewish followers of Jesus?” God’s salvation is a gift given to us through His grace. Thank Him today for this gift! —SH* “So it is clear that no one can be made right with God by the law. The Scriptures say, ‘The one who is right with God by faith will live forever.’” Galatians 3:11
