有一個上帝的天使向一群在伯利恆附近的牧羊人顯現，天使告訴牧羊人耶穌已經誕生了，天使說（第11節）：「今天，在大衛的城裏，你們的拯救者─主基督已經誕生了！」 　猶太人等待上帝差派人將他們從罪惡拯救出來已經很多年了，猶太人用「彌賽亞」這個名稱來形容那位上帝的特別人選。「基督」這個詞的意思和「彌賽亞」是一樣的。 　當牧羊人聽到基督已經降生，他們就趕到伯利恆去看祂。之後，牧羊人回到他們的羊群那裡，今天經文的第20a節告訴我們：「牧羊人回去，為他們所聽見所看到的事讚美歌頌上帝。」 　那些牧羊人讚美並感謝上帝賜下耶穌，如果你相信耶穌就是基督，是上帝揀選的那位，今天就感謝讚美祂。 －JK 「於是他們急忙趕去，找到了馬利亞、約瑟，和躺在馬槽裏的嬰兒。」 路加福音2:16 禱告：上帝，我讚美祢並感謝祢賜下耶穌。奉主的名，阿們！ (尤榮輝譯)

An angel from God came to a group of shepherds near Bethlehem. This angel told the shepherds that Jesus had been born. The angel said (verse 11), “Today your Savior was born in David’s town. He is the Messiah, the Lord.” 　For many years, the Jews had waited for God to send someone to save them from their sins. The Jews used the name “Messiah” to describe the one who would be God’s special person. The word “Christ” means the same thing as “Messiah.” 　When the shepherds heard that the Christ had been born, they hurried to Bethlehem to see Him. Later the shepherds returned to their sheep. Verse 20a of our Bible Reading tells us that the “shepherds went back to their sheep, praising God and thanking him for everything they had seen and heard.” 　The shepherds praised and thanked God for Jesus. If you believe that Jesus is the Christ, God’s chosen one, praise and thank Him today. —JK “So they went running and found Mary and Joseph.
