在耶穌被殺害的前一個晚上，祂和祂的門徒到一個叫客西馬尼園的地方。耶穌非常傷心，所以祂向上帝禱告。 　耶穌向上帝說（第39b節）：「我的父親哪，若是可以，求你不要讓我喝這苦杯！」耶穌這句話是在說：「如果可以的話，不要讓我死在十字架上。」但之後耶穌又說：「可是，不要照我的意思，只要照你的旨意」（第39b節）。即便這意謂著死亡，耶穌仍然願意順服上帝。 　耶穌原本可以選擇輕鬆的方式、拒絕受死，但是祂沒有這樣做，祂反而為了我們選擇可怕的方式受死。耶穌從來沒有犯過罪──祂是完美無瑕的，但是祂承擔了我們的罪並為我們受刑罰。 　為什麼耶穌願意這麼做呢？因為祂希望我們停止為罪而活並開始為祂而活！耶穌如此愛我們，所以祂選擇在我們住的地方受死。 　因著耶穌為我們所做的一切而感謝上帝。今天你務必要為祂而活！ —RK* 「基督是無罪的，可是為了我們，上帝讓他擔負我們的罪，使我們藉著他得以跟上帝有合宜的關係。」 哥林多後書5:21 禱告：天上的父，因著耶穌選擇為我受死，我感謝祢。求?讓我知道今天我可以如何為祂而活。。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (尤理權譯)

The night before Jesus was killed, He and His followers went to a place called Gethsemane. Jesus was very sad, so He prayed to God. 　Jesus said to God (verse 39b), “My Father, if it is possible, don’t make me drink from this cup.” Jesus was saying, “If it is possible, don’t make me die on the cross.” But then Jesus said, “But do what you want, not what I want (verse 39b).” Jesus was willing to obey God, even if it meant dying. 　Jesus could have chosen the easy way and refused to die. But instead, He chose to die a horrible death for us. Jesus never sinned — He was perfect. But He took our sin and accepted our punishment. 　Why was Jesus willing to do this? Because He wants us to stop living for sin and start living for Him! Jesus loves us so much that He chose to die in our place. 　Thank God for what Jesus did for you.
