以利亞是一個先知，今天的聖經閱讀告訴我們，以利亞「和我們同樣是人」(第17a節)。以利亞所需要的東西就跟我們一樣──衣服、食物和避難所；而他也是和善、誠實和公正的。以利亞聽從上帝並做上帝吩咐他做的事。 　聖經告訴我們，有一次以利亞懇切禱告，求上帝不要下雨，而上帝也留意了以利亞的禱告，結果那地就三年半沒有下雨！之後，以利亞禱告再次下雨，而雨就下了。 　聖經閱讀的第16b節說：「義人的禱告有很大的功效。」這就是發生在以利亞身上的事。他遵從上帝，而上帝回應他的禱告。 　你是否像以利亞呢？你是否遵從上帝並做上帝希望你做的事呢？那麼，你的禱告也會大有能力。 　就求上帝幫助你每天都遵從祂、跟隨祂。—MS 「他再禱告，天就下了大雨，大地生產五榖。」 雅各書5:18 禱告：上帝，我願永遠遵從祢，並且做祢希望我做的事。奉耶穌的名，阿們！ (尤榮輝譯)

Elijah was a prophet. Our Bible Reading today tells us that Elijah was a person, “just like us” (verse 17a). Elijah needed the same things that we need — clothes, food and shelter. He was also good, honest and fair. Elijah listened to God and did what God told him to do. 　The Bible tells us that once Elijah prayed very hard that it would not rain. God paid attention to Elijah’s prayer, and there was no rain in the land for three and a half years! Then Elijah prayed that it would rain again, and it rained. 　Verse 16b of our Bible Reading says, “Anyone who lives the way God wants can pray, and great things will happen.” That’s what happened with Elijah. He obeyed God, and God answered his prayer. 　Are you like Elijah? Do you obey God and do what God wants you to do? Then your prayers can be powerful, too. 　Ask God to help you obey and follow Him every day. —MS “Then Elijah prayed that it would rain. And the rain came down from the sky, and the land grew crops again.” James 5:18 PRAYER: God, I want to always obey You and do what You want. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
